The Director, Major Gifts engages with major gift level ($100,000+) community leaders and philanthropists as a senior-level representative of Loyola Medicine. The principle work of the Director of Major Gifts is to partner with connectors to identify prospective major gift donors and move prospective donors through the major gift Core Process. This includes recruiting, coordinating and collaborating with physicians, executives, current donors, board members, and others as “connectors” who identify and introduce potential major gift prospects through the grateful patient process, point-of-entry events, prospect identification activities and personal networking.
The Director, Major Gifts will work as the relationship manager for assigned prospective donors, and plans and participates in solicitations of prospective donors at the major gift level. Working within a team-based approach, she or he will manage the progression of prospective donors through the major gift Core Process. She or he will intentionally move the prospective donor through the Qualification, Cultivation and Solicitation stages of the Core Process by completing stage gate requirements.
*ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES *
- Manages a portfolio of prospective donors with the capacity to make gifts of $100,000+ within a team-based approach. Raises funds through managing multiple relationships with prospective donors through the defined major gift development process.
In partnership with physician connectors, and working through the grateful patient process, identifies and qualifies prospective major gift donors with a capacity of $100,000+ representing the highest giving potential for Loyola Medicine.
Interacts with physicians, senior leadership, board members and community members as connectors and sources of referrals for potential major donors. Attends point of entry events, meetings and other fundraising events to identify and cultivate relationships with current and prospective donors.
Creates individual strategies for each prospective donor in her or his portfolio based on the donor's history of giving, capacity and inclination to support Loyola Medicine. In partnership with physicians and other connectors, leadership and Advancement colleagues, execute these strategies to maximize giving from prospective donors and ensure existing donors are retained and upgraded.
Documents strategies for major gift donors and prospective donors including timely and accurate documentation of conversations and contacts with donors, prospective donors, physicians, volunteers, board members, and senior leadership.
Partners with the Development Services Officers to secure appropriate project or program information in order to develop giving opportunities and proposals in order to secure major gifts that will advance the strategic direction of .
Collaborates with the Development Services Officers to ensure that all donors are appropriately thanked, recognized and moved through an appropriate stewardship process.
