Job Description:

JOB SUMMARY

The Medical Assistant or LPN function as an important member of the healthcare team by providing basic clinical, clerical, and technical support to assist providers in planning for patients’ care, comfort, and safety. The Medical Assistant performs in a manner consistent with Marshfield Clinic’s mission, policies, and initiatives while maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.

Minimum Required: Graduate of a Medical Assistant program or Documented successful completion of the following courses (of their recognized course equivalent):

  • Medical Terminology

  • Anatomy & Physiology or Body Structure & Function or Human Body in Health & Disease

  • Pharmacology

For LPN: Licensed practical nurse (LPN) diploma

Preferred/Optional: Licensed Practical Nurse license awarded by the State of Wisconsin For LPN: Associate degree in nursing

EXPERIENCE

Minimum Required: None For LPN: Experience working with patient care. Demonstrated proficiency with verbal, non-verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred/Optional: Experience in healthcare experience. For LPN: Experience as a licensed practical nurse within an area relative to the hiring department.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES

The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.

Minimum Required: Medical Assistant certification/credential, or LPN or RN licensure in the State of Wisconsin, required within 6 months of employment in position. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire. For LPN: Licensed Practical Nurse license awarded by the State of Wisconsin. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire.

Preferred/Optional: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) at time of hire.
