JOB TITLE: Medical Assistant

LOCATION: Tiadaghton Health Service

DEPARTMENT: Community Medicine

WORK SCHEDULE: Days/Evenings

JOB SUMMARY:

Provides primary clinical support to the provider, patient and their family to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of the patient's condition. Follows up on diagnostic testing to ensure completion, accuracy, and filing of same in medical record to ensure continuity and quality of care. Promotes a clean environment. Meets the qualifications to provide care for patients in specific age range on their assigned clinical area.

Performs duties to support the goals and objectives of Geisinger in its efforts to provide quality patient care and patient satisfaction.

Works under the general supervision of the site lead for daily operational issues. Works under the supervision of the physician in providing patient care.

COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

Demonstrates the ability to accurately prioritize clinical and clerical tasks.

Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills, willingness to accept continuing education to broaden skills, good clinical skills to work effectively with patients' families and physicians.

Demonstrates the ability to work effectively in a team of environment to be flexible, and maintain confidentiality.

Pharmacology knowledge preferred.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of one year experience in a clinical setting required, primary care preferred.

In lieu of experience, completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program may be substituted.

Certification of Basic Life Support (CPR) required within 3 months of hire.
