Trinity Health Manager, Standards Performance & Implementation in Livonia, Michigan
Manages, oversees and leads the creation and adherence to Revenue Excellence Standards and project management for initiative implementations to ensure consistency across the enterprise for both acute care and medical group revenue cycle operations. Maintains oversight of all revenue cycle standards and key operational policies affecting performance and net revenue improvement. Works closely with Patient Business Service (PBS) centers, Regional Health Ministries (RHM), and internal Revenue Excellence departments to ensure standard policies and procedures are vetted, communicated, and implemented. Provides leadership for project management activities which support both standards and initiative implementations. Work activities include management and oversight of centralized Revenue Excellence operational standards and strategic implementation and project management support across the enterprise for both the acute and physician businesses. This position reports directly to the Director Enterprise Revenue Cycle Support Services.

Performs all managerial tasks associated with effective day-to-day operations of the Revenue Cycle Standards Performance and Initiative Implementations functions in accordance with the Trinity Health mission, shared values, compliance requirements, performance standards, and administrative protocol. Defines strategy, process and resource requirements for standards and initiative implementations across physician and acute areas. Accountable for achievement and sustainability of all changes implemented, in collaboration with Patient Business Services (PBS) and Regional Health Ministry (RHM) operational leaders, ensuring the success of initiatives. Recommends to the Director the provision of appropriate process and technology training for staff to achieve performance goals and maintain appropriate level of technical proficiency, efficiency, regulatory compliance and customer service. Manages evaluation of opportunities and development of business cases for change in accordance with latest RC policies and standards to ensure continual transformation and associated change efforts across Trinity Health System. Manages direction of strategic implementation initiatives and provides project management support for Revenue Excellence allowing for centralized oversight and standardization of initiatives across the Trinity Health organization. Manages the creation of standard policies and procedures for Revenue Excellence including job aids, training materials and standard vendor reporting measures for both physician and acute services. Responsible for initiating activities beyond job scope and developing alternatives in response to short and long term business needs, including identifying opportunities to enhance revenue potential through market and operational trends ensuring continual market relevance of practices and growth. Manages assigned staff in order to ensure steady workflow balance and high-quality outcomes anticipating and planning for staffing fluctuations:
Interviews, selects and is accountable for the on-going development and evaluation of individuals within the area of responsibility;
Develops colleague work schedules to ensure cost effective staffing that meets customer requirements and financial performance;
Establishes, implements and evaluates on-going performance improvement programs, utilizing an interdisciplinary approach;
Responsible for the financial and personnel management of assigned areas, and
Effectively directs and facilitates a multidisciplinary team to achieve its desired outcomes.
Creates and maintains a culture supportive of personnel by fostering individual motivation, teamwork and high levels of performance and accountability utilizing a participative management style to ensure staff retention. Identifies action plans to improve the quality of services in a cost efficient manner and facilitates plan implementation. Maintains professional development and growth through journals, professional local, regional and national affiliations, educational programs and seminars, and workshops to keep abreast of trends in revenue cycle operations and healthcare in general:

Serves in a leadership role and promotes appropriate positive human resource skills by fostering teamwork between business and clinical stakeholders and by recruiting, retaining, training, mentoring, developing and managing staff to achieve strategic objectives. Communicates effectively and maintains collaborative working relationships with all stakeholders and colleagues, RHM and physician leadership and staff, and vendor partners. Participates in cross-functional workgroups and teams from senior management level to colleagues and peers. Creates and presents data and recommendations to Revenue Excellence leadership and key stakeholders at RHMs and PBSs. Other duties as needed and assigned by the Director. Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health’s Integrity and Compliance Program and Code of Conduct, as well as other policies and procedures to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior.
Must possess a comprehensive knowledge of revenue cycle functions and systems, as normally obtained through a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or Healthcare Administration, and five (5) or more years of related, progressively responsible experience in multiple revenue management functions, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in a complex multi-entity healthcare organization or large complex revenue cycle services preferred. Broad based knowledge of healthcare insurance and patient billing and collections practices. Demonstrated competency in service excellence practices and Customer Resource Management (CRM). Experience establishing and/or managing the day-to-day operations of an operations department. Exhibits superior management skills that emphasize team‑building and strong leadership with the ability to provide clear direction to the department. Must demonstrate strong organizational skills leading a combination of direct and dotted‑line reporting relationships. Exhibits strong, collaborative leadership qualities that can bridge across multiple disciplines. Ability to create a culture supportive of personnel, fostering individual motivation, teamwork and high levels of performance and accountability utilizing a participative management style to ensure staff retention. Ability to identify action plans to improve the quality of services in a cost-efficient manner and facilitates plan implementation. PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
This position operates in a typical office environment. The area is well lit, temperature controlled and free from hazards. Incumbent communicates frequently, in person and over the phone, with people in all locations on product support issues. Manual dexterity is needed to operate a keyboard. Hearing is needed for extensive telephone and in person communication. The environment in which the incumbent will work requires the ability to concentrate, meet deadlines, work on several projects at the same time and adapt to interruptions. Must be able to set and organize own work priorities and adapt to them as they change frequently. Must be able to work concurrently on a variety of tasks/projects in an environment that may be stressful with individuals having diverse personalities and work styles. Must be able to travel to the various Trinity Health sites as needed. Must possess the ability to comply with Trinity Health policies and procedures.
