Trinity Health Intern - PS&PD in Livonia, Michigan

POSITION PURPOSE Provides technical and analytical support for Trinity Health's Payer Strategy & Product Development team. Participates in implementing data driven strategies to support payer initiatives, contract analytics, product development, population health management, and other key strategies. Solid analytical, investigative, interpretive and evaluative skills and the ability to contribute to and provide accountability for supporting small projects or portions of projects are expected. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, utilizing databases and reporting tools to extract data, generate reports, perform data analysis and draft system/process improvement recommendations. Assignments may require interfacing with, gathering information from and making presentations to various levels of management. Serves as a resource to internal colleagues on matters impacting projects and day-to-day assignments.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the mission, vision, and values of Trinity Health in behaviors, practices, and decisions.

Serves on project teams/completes assignments dedicated to multiple functions within Payer Strategies and Product Development. Creates presentations and reports. Supports analytical development, documents analytic decisions, conducts analyses aimed at improving organizational performance against key performance indicators.

Assists in development of strategic and tactical conclusions from data review and analyses to make recommendations to leadership in an easy to understand manner.

Collaborates with members of ITS teams, including Advanced Analytics, Data Warehouse, Data Governance, Clinical team, etc., to create necessary data extracts or databases for the purpose of performing specific clinical/financial analyses and achieving organizational goals.

Executes recurring data mining and process activities that provide the foundation for key analytic capabilities and assists in the translation of data mining activities into actionable business information.

Assists Regional Health Ministries with the implementation and effective utilization of dept. administered systems and Trinity Health best practices to achieve strategic and operational goals.

Performs other duties as needed and assigned by the manager.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must possess a comprehensive knowledge of analytics using Microsoft Office Suite, experience preferred in programming or BI tools for data manipulation using SQL or other computer language, must have a solid history of superior personal achievement in school and work, with at least two-three years of undergraduate college education with a focus in communications, accounting, finance, public health, health management and/or health administration, statistics, information technology, or a related field, and a minimum of one year related work experience.

Must be highly motivated to succeed and achieve objectives.

Strong analytical and integrative skills, including the ability to draw conclusions and identify trends from data in a logical and systematic way.

Ability to communicate complex quantitative analysis in a clear, precise, and actionable manner, in a way that can be understood by customers.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to respond to all communications effectively and in a timely manner is required.

Must be comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.

Must possess a personal presence that is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity, and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission, vision, goals, and values of Trinity Health.
