*ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*:
Performs laboratory testing independently with minimal supervision. Only exceptional problems require consultation with supervisor.
Performs laboratory tests and procedures in all departments, such as chemistry, hematology, serology, urinalysis and microbiology, according to criteria outlined in the corresponding procedure manuals.
Performs daily Quality Control on all test procedures and maintains records as outline in the procedure manuals. Informs supervisor as to any QC discrepancies. Refrains from reporting test results when QC is not in control.
Maintains proper records of test results and QC procedures according to established criteria and in compliance with CLIA and COLA regulations.
Performs routine preventative maintenance on assigned instruments and maintains records according to established protocols.
Understands documentation protocols and properly maintains all work files and reporting systems according to defined policies and procedures.
Working knowledge of the Electronic Health Record.
Ensures that proper patient specimen identification and submission requirements are adhered to prior to specimen analysis. Notifies appropriate personnel when a specimen is unacceptable and documents the date, time, person notified and reason for unacceptability.
Actively participates in and achieves an acceptable level of performance in proficiency testing surveys when applicable.
Prepares solutions and reagents when needed for test procedures.
Maintains the workstation and/or instruments in proper order. This includes instrument troubleshooting, calibrating and minor repairs.
Assists the supervisory staff in the development of new tests and provides input to enhance the smooth operation of the laboratory.
Assists and/or leads the work of technicians and trainees.
Performs continuing education exercises within and outside the laboratory.
Maintains a safe working environment for all laboratory personnel.
Demonstrate adaptability and accept change in a positive manner.
Responsible for keeping up to date on corporate communications such as email, daily huddles, and internal network such as the Pulse, SJEN, etc.
Present and ready for work in designated area at assigned time and dressed in appropriate work attire.
Readily assist other staff members upon completion of assigned duties.
Understand and adheres to all departmental policies and procedures.
Responsible for completing and maintain all required training relative to job function.
Exemplify a strong adherence to the professional code of conduct.
Maintains a professional and positive attitude and demonstrate a supportive and understanding behavior when in contact with patients, providers, employees, and patients.
Follow all policies and procedures mandated by St. Joseph's Physicians and the Government regarding HIPAA and OSHA.
Abide by the policies and procedures set forth in the St. Joseph's Physicians employee handbook.
Perform duties and assist providers as part of the practice care team. Take part in daily team huddles and/or other periodic team meetings to facilitate communications and enhance positive patient experiences and quality delivery of care.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives as part of the practice care team.
Insure job functions align with office policies and procedures and patient-centered medical home standards.

*EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE*
- B.S. in Medical Technology or Clinical Science
- NYS License
- Familiarity with Medical terminology desired
- Sedentary work, sitting, standing, walking and light lifting

- Category I –Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue
Work hours will be Sundays 7AM - 3PM Wednesdays 3PM- 11PM
