This job was posted by : For more information, please see: JOB DESCRIPTION: The primary mission of the Information Technology Services Network Administrator is to support campus users with critical network infrastructure hardware, software and network difficulties. The Network Administrator works as a team member in the ITS department and will directly supervise the Assistant Network Administrator and a Network Technician. The Network Administrator works with all ITS staff to diagnose and solve any problems as needed. This may include both network and regular PC support problems. Smaller networks are maintained at the Cameron University Duncan campus. The Network Administrator is also the main point of contact for the state ISP Onenet Network team. Each person performs their own data entry into a work order tracking system. The Network Administrator provides assistance to faculty and staff. Job Duties as Network Administrator include but are not limited to: Directly supervise an Assistant Network Administrator and one Network Technician. Establishes and implements LAN policies, procedures and standards, ensuring conformance with information systems and objectives. Research and provide recommendations and price quotes for network hardware/software, network related servers, smart classroom Audio/Video systems. Understanding of budgets and rules for purchasing equipment. Provides upper management recommendations related to purchasing and installing hardware, software, and telecommunications equipment. Create and maintain network documentation to include Visio diagrams, IP Address/Subnet Information, device configurations, fiber optic numbering, patch panel labeling, cable labeling, etc. Provide documentation for procedures for various networking or audio-visual implementations. Configure, install, and maintain network switches, firewalls and all network appliances on campus and as a OneNet hub site. Manage an Audio/Video automation system, matrix A/V switcher, satellite TV receivers, TV channel demodulators, SD CATV modulator, and fiber-optic based CATV encoder/decoder systems for the campus TV channel. Configure authentication, roles, IP hosts, services, and bandwidth settings for wireless clients. Manages LAN security and network performance. Configure network printers to include disabling unused ports, assigning IP addresses (either static or static DHCP reservation Utilize encoder/decoder systems to provide video streaming for the campus TV station between Lawton and Duncan campuses. Configure, install, and maintain enterprise level network management software. Configure, install, and maintain network switches, wireless access points, wireless controllers, IP based security cameras, camera recording servers with directly attached storage, network room environmental monitoring systems, and UPS (uninterruptible power supply) network monitoring. Create, maintain, and document/label VLANs, NAT, connected routes, and static routes. Configure and maintain intrusion prevention systems, bandwidth management systems, firewalls, and deep packet inspection systems that include protocol analyzers. Terminate, test, locate, and label network cables using TIA-568B cabling standard using standardized equipment for wall plates, jacks, and cabling. Configure and occasionally change settings on a campus bell carillon system. SUPERVISION: The position will work under the supervision of the Director of Information Technology Services. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to lift objects up to 25 pounds including using the upper body to raise objects from a lower position to a higher position; ability to reach including extending the arm and hand; ability to stand for short or extended periods of time; ability to engage in repetitive motions including finger dexterity; ability to speak, hear and see. Ability to crouch, climb and walk stairs. Occasionally ascends/descends a ladder to service wireless access points or security cameras. Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50 percent of the time. Vision abilities required by this job include color vision, close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
