Position Description:

This position is primarily responsible for preparing and analyzing complex sales and use tax returns, Municipal Business Licenses and Corporeal Secretary of State filings on a multi-state level. The analyst will also gather information for tax audits and respond to tax related questions and requests. Coordinate Compliance of sales, use, Business License, and Secretary of State reports for several entities and states ensuring appropriate and consistent tax treatment of multi-state transactions, products and services. Participate and support state and local tax audits. Respond to sales tax related questions from facilities, customers and external auditors. Prepare other returns and annual reports ensuring document preservation and availability. Receive and respond to customer inquiries. Maintain both customer level and product level exemptions in tax software. Secure and maintain customer exemption certificates as needed. Perform tax accrual account analysis and reconciliations. Maintains Legal Entity Structure and Corporate existence between Stericycle Businesses and the Secretary of States offices. Ensure timely responses to items on the tax compliance calendar.

Position Requirements:

Education equivalent to Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business, or Tax, or the equivalent in related work experience. Five or more years of sales and use tax experience, or the equivalent in related work experience, demonstrating good knowledge of tax law compliance and tax accounting. Demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, and Vertex Sales Tax a plus.
