Trane Technologies Maintenance/Boiler Room Operator in La Crosse, Wisconsin

Job Summary:

A Boiler Operator operates and maintains multiple boilers and associated equipment within the Trane La Crosse Campus. It is a skilled position, which involves operating and maintaining the steam plants on campus, to include multiple steam traps and condensate stations that are scattered across campus. Diagnosis and repair of components, adjusting water chemicals to maintain the required water chemistry, and repairs to the boiler controls are all required skills.

Responsibilities:

  1. Attend and pass all required training and classes.

  2. Available to work holidays and days off when required.

  3. Must be able to tolerate and work in temperature extremes.

  4. Must be trained for confined space entry, man lifts and various PIVS

  5. Test boiler water and balance system with chemicals.

  6. Must record water and chemical tests in logs, manual and electronic.

  7. Good decision-making skills are required.

  8. Must meet all regulatory training, qualification, and certification requirements.

  9. Required to lift up to 50 pounds.

  10. Must be willing and able to switch shifts based on season/boiler usage. WE-1 summer/WE-2 winter

  11. Self-motived, able to work with limited supervision.

  12. Receives work instructions from a member of management or a team lead.

  13. Must follow standard work, complete production and maintenance records and other documentation related to operations.

  14. Participate in basic problem solving, 5-S, and lean activities.

  15. Demonstrate the ability to perform the above duties with no additional training required.

  16. Must meet and maintain all safety requirements.

  17. Perform other duties as assigned.

  18. Ability to communicate and work well with a diverse group of salaried and hourly employees as well as external auditors and contractors.

Qualifications:

  1. Demonstrated reliability

  2. Subject to completion of company-approved aptitude testing

  3. High School diploma or GED required

  4. Boiler operator’s license or associates degree in HVAC, Electrical, Mechanical or Electro-mechanical technologies at a minimum. Boiler Room experience is a plus

  5. Computer skills. Must be willing to learn multiple Boiler /Building software programs i.e. Chemtex

  6. Manual dexterity
