POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for various functions, including patient financial support and education of available resources, reviewing of self-pay accounts for active insurance of RINA, data entry, personal payment posting, hospital transfer posting, collection agency payment posting, customer service, posting accurate adjustments, reviewing Financial Assistance applications for completeness prior to sending to supervisor for approval, timely review of accounts with patient responsibility and following policy for collection procedure, review accounts for patient refund processing. Cash/check reconciliation and cash log processing.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Meets with patients who are in need of financial resources. Posts personal payments and collection agency payments. Review of weekly refund batch for accuracy. Filing/refiling of claims if insurance is located or corrected after initial billing process. Responsible for working Athena worklists; Bad Request, Balance Review, HOLD, Medicaid Balance, Bill patient and Local 64 in A/R bucket. Responsible for working Athena worklists; Medicaid Pending and Overpays and Refunds.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Education

Minimum – High school graduate or equivalent

Preferred – Post high school education

Related Experience

Minimum – Six months medical billing experience or related clerical experience, with an understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, Health Maintenance Organization and commercial insurance plans, as well as an understanding of ICD-10 and CPT coding and medical terminology. Completion of medical billing program.

Preferred – Two years medical billing or related clerical experience and completion of medical billing program with certification.

SHIFT/LOCATION

• Part time, days, 14 hours per week, no weekends

• PLEASE NOTE: this position will require travel/commute to attend orientation and train in the Grand Haven, MI North Ottawa Billing Office, then position will transition to sit in the Kentwood/Grand Rapids, MI Billing Office.
