Career Opportunity

Currently seeking Quality Technicians (12 hour nights) for our Printing Dept. Starting Pay $15.00 - $18.00. Full Health Benefits after 30 days of employment.

Responsible for leading and directing the employees and work flow in the Quality Assurance Department. Ensures a safe work environment, and meets production goals. Assist manufacturing in maintaining the required quality standards. Assist, as needed, with on-going inspection of samples to ensure product specifications meet job ticket requirements in size, structure, style, color, and copy. This is done by reviewing each piece for defects, consistency in color, color correct to color okayed press sheet and color target. Comparing supplied copy target is correct to finished product. packaging of samples for daily shipment, complies with federal, state, company policies & procedures.

How you will impact WestRock

Assists manufacturing in maintaining the required quality standards through color analysis of color okays against the provided color target and registration. Verifying the UPC barcode of printed product against customer requirements, perform copy check. Read job ticket and verify selections on form meet the requirements stated on the job ticket (color, coating, special instructions, etc.) and perform gloss readings. Record evaluations and tests and maintain records for 2 months.

  • Lead and direct the employees in the quality department
  • As needed, assists manufacturing in maintaining the required quality standards through ongoing inspection of samples for internal use and customer requested samples:
  • Monitors and provides guidance to all hourly employees on all shifts
  • Functions well in a fast-paced environment and manages competing priorities
  • Understands the functions and capabilities of various departments and uses those resources effectively
  • Fills in for Quality Assurance Manager as necessary
  • Compares against copy target
  • Reviews structural integrity
  • Checks pagination, size, wrap of graphics, and visual cosmetic defects
  • Reads job ticket and verifies product is correct to job ticket specifications, selection numbers, or other specifications before beginning the job.
  • Reads Sales Order to confirm the quantity of samples required and individuals requesting samples
  • Review front, back, all text pages of all samples that will be used internally and sent to sales, CSRs, and customers
  • Identifies suspect product by completing and placing a Hold tag in the load.
  • Initiates NCRs through the Pecas system
  • Reports any questions or problems to the Quality Assurance Manager
  • At times, help out in other areas of QA (i.e., audit machines, weigh count cases, perform final inspections, or assist with inspecting nonconforming product)
  • At times approve jobs that are outsourced to vendor and/or visit vendor site to disposition or inspect quality issues.
  • Performs other job duties as assigned.

What you need to succeed

  • Must have high school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in leadership type role.
  • Must have strong communication skills
  • Must have ability to effectively present information in one on one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.
  • Must have ability to respond to common inquiries or completes from customers
  • Must have ability to write routine reports and business correspondences.
  • Must have advanced computer skills (MS Access, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed; significant overtime may be required during busy periods.
  • Must pass color vision test.
  • Must pass color hue test.
  • Must be able to read a ruler.
  • Must be reliable and dependable.
  • Close attention to detail is required in all areas of job.
  • Ability to work under deadlines where interruptions occur.
