Description

The Process Engineer will be part of the GCBU Projects Team and will report to the GCBU Execution Engineer Supervisor. This position will provide general process engineering expertise during detail engineering and execution phase, participating in HAZOP, design reviews, flare and relief designs. This position is responsible for well facilities, central facilities, pipelines as well as larger infrastructure projects process engineering deliverables to ensure successful project execution and smooth handover to construction operations. The Process Engineer will perform all work in compliance with company standards and preferably have knowledge of industry codes and standards. This position is expected to travel up to 20-25% of the time. The position has excellent exposure to a variety of engineering and technical challenges that surround production field equipment as well as other functions and organizations.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential as well as strong modeling and organizational skills are required to function effectively in the fast-paced environment of the Operations and Project Groups.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Provide process engineering support to the GCBU Capital Projects, Base and Operations team as required. This includes; coordination between Project Engineers, Discipline Engineers, contract engineering firms, Base Engineers, Production Operations, Environmental, Regulatory, HSE, Surface Land, Supply Chain, and Commissioning teams among others

  • Provide direction to third-party engineering contractors in support of engineering deliverables

  • Simulate gas and liquid processes on various process simulators (HYSIM, HYSYS, PROMax, Pipesim, Flarenet)

  • Flare & Relief Valve review and sizing

  • Responsible for the completion of design sizing for equipment, hydraulic calculations, control valve sizing and other process design related tasks

  • Prepare basis of design, process flow diagram, heat and material balances, equipment datasheets, others

  • Provide process engineering support during engineering reviews: 3D model, P&ID, HAZOP and other design reviews

  • Provide assistance to other design disciplines as required in the preparation of equipment specifications

  • Excellent understanding/comprehension of engineering deliverables such as facility layouts, P&ID’s, area classification, Cause and Effect Diagrams, etc.

  • Clearly demonstrate technical competence specifically in the areas of oil and gas processing, gas dehydration and pipeline operations

  • Strong leadership abilities and interpersonal skills. Ability to influence others and resolve conflicts

  • Teamwork and effective collaboration

  • Demonstrate ability to establish priorities and critical tasks in managing multiple activities

  • Provide support for and participate in the MOC process. Perform risk assessments and/or PHA studies as required, to comply with the HSE Management System

  • Aid in the development of the engineering and construction scopes of the work

Qualifications:

Basic/Required:

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering

  • 5 years of engineering experience in the oil and gas industry

  • Experience working with process modeling software (HYSYS, HYSIM, Aspen Plus, ProMax, PIPESIM, Flarenet)

  • Working knowledge of technical standards (API, ASME, ANSI, etc.)

  • Valid driver's license

  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% of the time to field locations, vendor locations and other office locations

Preferred:

  • 10 years of direct experience in upstream oil and gas facility design, construction/installation, operation, and optimization

  • Ability to manage multiple projects

  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills

  • Understanding of process from well facilities, central facilities to delivery points

  • Advanced knowledge of technical standards (API, ASME, ANSI, etc.)

  • Experience working with process modeling software (HYSYS, HYSIM, Aspen Plus, ProMax, PIPESIM, Flarenet)

  • Experience with directing engineering contractors

  • Advanced understanding of the project process

  • Good understanding of risks and risks management

  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
