Phsician Assistant - Colorectal/GI Surgery

Patient Care

Collaborate with physician and team in the management of Surgical Oncology Patients - primarily in GI Colorectal Surgery Outpatient Clinic Setting (H&P, Oncology and Surgery treatment planning, Pre-op Evaluation, Post-op Management, Order and interpret appropriate diagnostics evaluation, Coordinate care with multidisciplinary team, Accurate Documentation and Professional billing, other duties as assigned). Secondary responsibilities may involve other areas of the department (Melanoma, Sarcoma, Endocrine, Port Clinic, Breast Cancer). Employee demonstrates population-based competencies (age-specific, diversity) that cross the continuum of care. Employee functions within their professional scope in their assigned area.

Medical Knowledge

Employee demonstrates medical knowledge of care of Surgical Oncology patients. Knowledgeable and possess proficiency as well as skills in the care and management of Surgical Oncology patients.


Employee demonstrates commitment to collaborative professional relationships with physicians and all members of the heath care team.

Practice-Based Learning

Employee participates in on-going learning and demonstrates application of it in his/her role.

System-Based Practice

Employee demonstrates his/her impact on the system of care.

Other duties as assigned


Required: Graduate of a Physician Assistant training program approved by the Council of Medical Education of the American Medical Association.


Required: PA certification by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants. Licensed by the Texas State Board of Physician Assistant Examiners.

MAY BE REQUIRED: Eligible to be granted limited prescriptive authority by the State of Texas.
