Regular, Part-Time (47.5% FTE), RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the University of Hawaii Information Technology Services, located on Hawaii Island.

Telework (from employees residence city and state) may be permissible subject to review and approval by Principal Investigator and RCUH. Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws.

HOURLY RANGE: $17.50 - $18/Hr.

DUTIES: Serves as a community ambassador for Hawaii's Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Program, housed within UH ITS, and works alongside various county broadband program coordinators to assist BEAD Program public outreach and education efforts in help desk' and related support functions. Attends and assists UH Broadband Office and county-run outreach sessions. Assist counties in gathering and analysis of technical information about residents' connectivity and level of Internet service.

PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION

High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.

EXPERIENCE

Up to one (0-1) year of experience in working proficiently with technology.

KNOWLEDGE

Basic knowledge of working knowledge of technology (computers, smartphone, internet) and an interest in working in social equity area, preferably the technology-related social equity work or technology-driven social outcomes/community health field telecommunications/information technology field, or other sector with public outcomes closely tied to digital equity and availability of high speed Internet. Some knowledge of digital equity, the state's broadband infrastructure needs, the federal government's program to fill gaps in broadband needs for rural and underserved communities. Understanding of how the Internet works. Must have knowledge of Microsoft Word, Google Workspace, Zoom, Adobe Acrobat, email, and other software as identified by the UH Broadband Office or counties.

ABILITIES and SKILLS

Must have excellent communication skills and possess the ability to work with technology and explain basic digital literacy and technical skills in terms kupuna and other technologically disadvantaged communities would understand. Must be able to learn how to provide technical assistance to counties and non-profit organizations as they work to fulfill BEAD program objectives. Must be flexible and patient to troubleshoot technology issues. Must have the ability to build relationships with people from a broad range of backgrounds.

Ability to effectively conduct work remotely (e.g., telework) as applicable. Post Offer/Employment Condition: Must be able to complete the UH Title IX training within twelve (12) months from date of hire. Must be able to complete the UH Information Security Awareness Training (ISAT) within two (2) weeks from date of hire, and re-certify every twelve (12) months.
