Mercyhealth RN UNIT SUPERVISOR-Director of Nursing for Skilled Nursing/LTC unit, Full time, Harvard, IL in Harvard, Illinois

Looking for Director of Nursing for 45 bed Skilled Nursing and Long Term Care Facility located within Mercyhealth Harvard Hospital -5 STAR FACILITY FOR THE PAST 5 YEARS.

JOB SUMMARY The RN Unit Supervisor for Mercy Harvard Care Center is the unit director of nursing with shift accountability. This position is responsible for coordinating and facilitating nursing care activities to improve continuity of care across the continuum under the direction of the MHCC director for nursing care practice. The RN Unit Supervisor assists the MHCC administrator with developing and implementing policies and procedures to provide nursing services to meet the Federal and State regulatory requirements. Supervisor provides continuing education to insure competency of staff. Provides consultative direction and expertise in all areas of nursing services to insure assessment and improvement and quality maintenance programs are developed and maintained. The Supervisor is a team leader and provides shift supervision to nursing staff through hiring, training, evaluation, assignment and delegation of duties within budget and resident census guidelines. The Supervisor acts as a patient advocate and as a resource to patients, families and other inter-disciplinary staff. The RN Supervisor for LTC is responsible for completing, evaluating and reporting monthly quality data, which includes: falls, skin, psychotropic medications and chart compliance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The RN Supervisor for MMTC provides shift supervision to nursing staff on a daily basis to ensure compliance with State, Federal and TJC regulations. The RN Supervisor is acting in a team leader/supervisory capacity. Ensures the unit is running smoothly and brings any necessary concerns or issues to the director. On off shifts, the nursing issues are addressed by MMTC nursing leadership and the MMTC director as appropriate and the Supervisor follows up on matters as needed. Implements innovative instructional methods for use in meeting the educational needs of all nursing department personnel. Coordinates and implements quality initiative relating to the National Quality Measures. Attends system and hospital specific Team meetings if applicable. In-services staff on new equipment and nursing procedures. Assists in coordinating orientation and education as requested. Responsible for insuring compliance with Quality Measures on a monthly basis, this may include but is not limited to: falls, skin, psychotropic medications, chart compliance and other quality measures as identified. Monitors and controls departmental costs to maintain expenditures within allocations. Performs all duties as an RN for MMTC on regular bases.

AGE OF PATIENT POPULATION
adult, geriatric

EDUCATION, TRAINING, & EXPERIENCE RN license for state of practice BSN required. 2-4 years of experience in supervisory position in long term care nursing or demonstrated experience as a leader or manager in a long term care facility. Working knowledge of reimbursement systems and State and Federal Regulations within Long Term Care and TJC.

CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE
Current Illinois RN license

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS Passing the Driver’s License Check and/or Credit Check (for those positions requiring) Passing the WI Caregiver Background Check and/or Illinois Health Care Workers Background Check Must be able to follow written and oral instructions

SPECIAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS

LEVEL OF SUPERVISION
Is directly supervised by the MMTC Director and collaborates with MMTC Nursing Leadership. Provides coordination and day to day supervision of MMTC employees in the department of nursing. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees. Planning, assessing and appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Work requires independent judgment.

LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

COMPUTER SKILLS To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
