Excela Health ADMINISTRATIVE INTERN - PHYSICIAN OFFICE - MULTIPLE LOCATIONS - TEMPORARY in Greensburg, Pennsylvania

Description

Supports the physician offices by assisting with administrative and secretarial functions in direct support of the physician practice as assigned. Supports basic direct patient care activities in preparation for the patient’s examination and treatment as assigned.

Core Essential Functions:

  • Regular, consistent, on-site, and timely attendance.

    Specialty Essential Functions:

  • Ensure positive customer service atmosphere and interactions in reception area.

  • Interacts with external customers in a courteous and respectful manner.

  • Interacts with co-workers and internal customers in a respectful and professional manner.

  • Processes telephone calls and messages promptly, accurately courteously and efficiently.

  • Performs clerical functions in support of patient care and office functions.

  • Answers telephone calls, taking accurate messages and relaying them to the appropriate staff.

  • Process patient information.

  • Interview and pre-register patients at the time of or prior to visit date.

  • Maintains a collaborative relationship with the physicians/nurses to achieve desired patient outcomes.

  • Prepares patients for examinations.

  • Communicates pertinent information of actual or potential problems to physician or nurse.

    Marginal Functions: Defined as duties that are not essential in nature and do not take a considerable amount of time to complete (less than 10%).

  • Performs other duties as required.

    Required Skills and Knowledge: Minimum level of education, skills and abilities necessary in performing the job.

Education:

  • HS Diploma, GED or equivalent knowledge

  • Currently attending Medical Assistant program with completed courses of front office, and back office procedures, also to include similar related healthcare office practices in the field of accounting and medical coding, OR

  • Currently enrolled in programs with disciplines within the healthcare related fields such as Physician Assistant, CRNP, CRNA, Physical Therapy

Certification / Licensure / Regulation:

  • None

  • None

Other Skills and Abilities:

  • Medical Terminology

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills

  • Ability to communicate with all members of the health care team
