About The Job

​This job is a member of the Engineering Team within the Integrated Operations Division. This position will be responsible for managing a group of reliability engineers and/or analysts responsible for reliability program at American. This job also drives improvement to the fleet reliability by managing a group that collects and analyzes operational data to identify and resolve root cause issues.

Specifically, you’ll do the following:

  • Manages reliability analysts and engineers which monitor the operational reliability of airframes and components with a variety of data sources/tools

  • Leads the development of department data bases, predictive tools and lead data analysis

  • Tracks corrective action development/implementation and verify corrective action effectiveness

  • Evaluates Maintenance program adjustments for airframe and components

  • Acts as primary Reliability interface with FAA

  • Coordinates corrective items with appropriate engineering and Maintenance groups

  • Maintains a current knowledge of operational needs / issues and direct the department toward actions that lead to improvements

  • Acts as a liaison with other Technical Operations departments and vendors to provide assistance in order to resolve component performance issues

  • Determines root cause of system/component failure and initiate resolution and facilitate among working groups (engineering, aircraft manufacture and other relevant departments)

  • Coordinates resolution of negative trends through the Reliability Program

  • Analyzes, acts and disposes the adverse trends, repeats log items, and services interruptions; creates charts, graphs, and reports for bi-monthly fleet briefs for senior management

  • Ability to provide off hour, weekend, and holiday support as needed

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's of Science degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aeronautical Engineering or advanced Statistics or Mathematical degree with experience in maintenance

  • 4 years of experience in a leadership role in commercial aviation

  • Working knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma principles

  • Knowledge of Mircrosoft Office to include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage major projects on schedule

  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects at the same time

  • Demonstrated skills in employee development

Preferred Qualifications

  • ​Masters of Business Administration or other advance degree or certification

  • Previous experience in developing databases with experience in merging of data

  • 5 years of experience in leadership role

  • Thorough understanding of AA Policies and Procedures

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software and similar analysis and database/reporting software including SAS, Tableau, VBA, SQL, and Text Mining

  • Experience in Aviation
