About The Job

​This job is a member of the Flight Hotel & Transportation Team within the Integrated Operations Division. Responsible for managing a team responsible for crew hotel and transportation.

Work Schedule: The person in this role will work M-F, often times extended hours will be needed and quite a bit of travel.

Specifically, you’ll do the following:

  • Analyzes AA's hotel markets globally and coordinates purchasing activities, specifically related to scheduled hotel and transportation accommodations for 40,000+ Pilot and Flight Attendant crew members

  • Collaborates with Pilot and Flight Attendant Hotel Committees

  • Manages the coordination of the team's entire crew accommodations acquisition process, including bid analysis, supplier evaluation and selection, and contract negotiation

  • Leads the sourcing of hotel and transportation accommodations globally for the airline's scheduled crewmember layovers to meet the expectations of all internal customers. Creates, negotiates, implements and manages long term purchase agreements while effectively developing and promoting strategic partnerships with suppliers

  • Performs required strategic sourcing functions, from establishing internal stakeholder requirements to the completion of acceptable vendor contracts that brings measurable value to the corporation.

  • Analyzes the operational planning requirements along with service standards to develop a sustainable sourcing strategy

  • Develops and deploys a sourcing and selection strategy to meet project key performance indicators and reduce total costs

  • Manages and reduces risk regarding cost, layover quality, and resulting impact to scheduled operations and on-time performance

  • Works with Crew Schedule Planning, Network Planning and Airports management teams to identify layover requirements in new/increased service markets and develop and execute necessary operational action plans prior to commencement of service

  • Effectively develop and promote AA's strategic partnerships with hotels and transportation suppliers

  • Works to resolve crew debriefs and interact with APA and APFA hotel union committee members, utilizes an internal database to develop and distribute monthly hotel and transportation schedules to our vendors, and interacts with Crew Scheduling team during off schedule operations

  • Ability to travel worldwide for extended lengths of time, work nights and weekends


Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalency

  • 4 years related job experience

  • Requires strong negotiating skills, customer orientation and field experience

  • Knowledge of DECS/FOS

  • Ability/flexibility to negotiate and sell new ideas to internal customers and our suppliers

  • Ability to analyze, solve problems and forecast

  • Ability to negotiate and analyze financial implications of contracts, identifying and capitalizing on value opportunities

  • High ethical standards

  • Desired skills: analysis, problem solving, forecasting, quality improvement, inventory management and deriving strategic plans for all crew hotels and transportations operation

  • Ability to learn new IT systems/applications and apply that knowledge

  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks/projects with deadlines assigned

  • Legal right to travel without restriction to/from all countries the American serves, including possession of a valid passport and be able to obtain a visa as required by local governments

  • Knowledge of AA route system, global markets and world cultures

  • Ability to improve or adapt existing processes by correcting problems and resolving issues

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, or related field

  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written with all levels in the organization
