Job Description- Assistant Manager

Central Bark Fort Walton Beach is looking for hardworking and dependable individuals who will work

alongside us to ensure operational excellence. Responsible for overseeing the care and supervision of

play groups, training staff, and caring for the dogs in the facility. We operate 365 days a year; assistant

managers are expected to work weekends when needed and holidays as needed, in all types of weather.

Approximately 50% of your time will be answering the phone, data entry, handling customer concerns,

talking with customers, building a customer relationship, and dealing with employee issues and training,

35% will be handling dogs, and the remaining 15% will be cleaning. At Central Bark, we always look to

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Assisting in the hiring process and managing personnel, scheduling, assisting management in training of new

hires. Works regular scheduled store shifts with the capacity to cover any position, including but not limited to care of

the dogs and the front desk.

Works with manager in coordinating the development and implementation of both short- and long-term marketing

strategies to enhance existing business, increase market awareness, support the image and branding strategy, and

build brand loyalty.

Ensures that customer satisfaction is consistently obtained including our mission to provide Whole Dog Care and

Enrichment to all dogs in our care daily.

Ensures the efficient and effective operation of the day care.

Helps to maintain the highest company standards in the delivery of all services. Remains current on new business,

marketing, and industry trends.

Supports manager to maintain effective two-way communication systems, which cross departmental lines and

reach all employees.

Supports and enforces established company policies and procedures.

Leads by example.

Caring for and supervising play groups of dogs according to the latest science-based dog behavior and training

knowledge received during training. This will include, playing with dogs, working on group play skills to increase

safety, engaging in enrichment activities, brushing, petting, holding, crating, leashing, collaring, clothing (when jackets

are needed), applying first aid, feeding, medicating, etc.

Cleaning duties such as cleaning up dog waste, sweeping, mopping, dusting, disinfecting, shoveling, cleaning

crates, and bathing dogs.

Helps maintain compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations.

Helps in the training of new employees in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Coordinates inventory levels in the retail area through the P.O.S. system and with store supplies and equipment

per manager.

Social media management by posting daily, in-line with brand standards and compliance while utilizing marketing

plan and calendar.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty

satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and/or Experience: Some supervisory experience preferred. Previous experience

working with dogs is preferred. Skills may be in the form of pet ownership, previous pet ownership, working with

animals and attending dog training and/or behavior seminars. Training sessions and seminars may be scheduled

during non-working hours where your attendance may be required. Must be age 18 or older.

Physical Skills: Ability to perform a variety of demanding physic l activities, including lifting a minimum of 50

pounds (whether it is a bag of dog food, a crate, or a dog), standing for long periods of time and enduring summer

outdoor temperatures. Grasping, pinching, and pulling skills are also needed to leash and collar dogs as well as

control them. Typing for extended periods of time is also required.

Health: It is required that all staff are current on their Tetanus vaccination.

Language Skills: Ability to verbally communicate effectively with customers and staff is a must. Assistant

managers must be able to read and write accurately. Ability to read dog information including names, medication and

feeding instructions, schedules and the like. Comfortable on phones and with face to face interactions.

Mathematical Skills: Basic measuring and counting abilities as related to cleaning, medications, feedings

or counting change back to customers.

Computer Skills: Knowledge, understanding and experience with Windows based applications are

preferred.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, analyze emergencies and think on your feet. Reading dogs'

body language and behavior and catching key indicators of possible conflict is a must to ensure safety. Ability to deal

with customers and their complaints and either handle them or direct them to the appropriate channel (i.e. a

manager) for finding a solution to their problem.
