Guidehouse Managing Consultant-Compliance (CIP) & Cyber Security in Folsom, California

Managing Consultants own client engagements from cultivation to completion. In this role, you will be accountable for the activities of the project team and support the day-to-day management of the client relationship. You are expected to effectively develop and manage work plans, staffing, deadlines and budgets for multiple complex projects simultaneously. Work products are expected to be high-quality and client-ready. In this visible role, you will lead team meetings, and guide, manage, and coach consultants and senior consultants, providing constructive feedback on project participation and overall career development. Managing Consultants work closely with Directors and Managing Directors to keep them abreast of project progress and important developments. Managing Consultants support sales initiatives and practice development.

As you are ready drive strategic solutions across multiple complex workstreams and become more involved in business development, you will have the opportunity to progress to the Associate Director level.


  • Bachelor’s degree in a business, policy, environmental, economics, finance, engineering, science and/or related discipline

  • 5-8 years working experience as a consultant (external/Internal) or management consultant to include experience working directly with clients

  • Experience working in Compliance or Cybersecurity related field for an electric utility, a Region, NERC, FERC, SERC, DOD, or equivalent

  • Demonstrated working proficiency in the NERC Reliability Standards or equivalent standards

  • Strong project management skills

  • Strong communications skills, including both written and verbal

  • Strong critical analysis and problem-solving skills

  • Highly developed organizational and management skills

  • Ability to manage multiple time-sensitive priorities without diminished effectiveness

  • Travel Required

Preferred Qualification

In addition to the above listed requirements:

  • Master’s degree awarded no later than January 2020 in an engineering, science, business and/or economics discipline; Combinations of engineering and business ideal

  • 5+ years working experience in a Reliability Compliance related field for an electric utility, a Region, NERC, FERC, SERC or equivalent

  • Specific working experience related to any of the following:

  • Bulk Electric System (BES) and power systems

  • Electrical Reliability

  • NERC/FERC Enforcement or Auditing

  • Critical Infrastructure Protection Standards (CIP)

  • CIP related Cyber Security

  • CIP related Physical Security

  • NERC O&P or 693
