About the College/Department

The Transit and Parking Department is responsible for the operation of Razorback Transit, a public mass transit system serving the University of Arkansas campus and the city of Fayetteville; the Safe Ride program, providing transportation for students after-hours; a Charter Bus Service for campus affiliates; the Razorbike program, a loaner bicycle program for students, staff and faculty; and the campus parking program, consisting of four parking garages and over 100 parking lots.

Summary of Job Duties

The Bus Operator is responsible for the safe operation of a large passenger motor vehicle and transporting passengers to specific destinations within the general area. This position is responsible for performing prescribed pre/post-operational safety maintenance checks; accumulating and recording statistics for daily reports on fixed route service; and must be able to demonstrate excellent customer service skills. This position could be subject to shift rotation resulting in shift differential.

Regular, non-disruptive, and reliable attendance is an essential job duty, as well as the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

  • The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma

  • Must have a Commercial Drivers License

  • At least two years of experience in commercial driving
