Job summary

Use your organizational skills and software industry experience to manage requests for proposal (RFPs) for the leading company in the open source world. Red Hat is looking for a Bid Manager for RFP to join us ideally in Farnborough, U.K., or in Munich, Germany. In this role, you will manage proposal activity generated by sales territory managers. You’ll be responsible for managing the RFP response process, establishing project timelines, and communicating project details to the project team. You’ll need to provide a part of the information in the RFP response and use internal resources to complete the response. You will manage several concurrent projects.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Manage RFP projects by creating project timeline, ensuring adherence to schedule, coordinating, advising, and leading the RFP response team

  • Facilitate the development of win strategies and value propositions together with the account team

  • Compile RFP response content using Qvidian and other company resources

  • Establish trusted working relationships with Red Hat’s teams, in particular with sales managers, sales engineers, solution architects, product specialists, finance and legal for additional information, blending styles of multiple authors

  • Maintain accuracy of grammar, spelling, and punctuation and formats of texts and check pictures, graphics, etc. for aesthetics, quality, and adherence to RFP specifications

  • Conduct compliance validation

  • Provide document quality and editorial input throughout the process

  • Compile supplemental texts and attachments

  • Provide final submission to sales representatives or directly to customer

  • Print, assemble, and ship final documents

  • Capture, maintain, and refresh reusable content

Required skills

  • 5+ years of experience working in a rapidly changing, deadline-based position involving daily interaction with multiple levels of management and peers; 2+ years of experience in proposal development responding to RFPs or in a related field

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

  • Experience creating business and technical documents and presenting these

  • Experience working in a fast-paced work environment with minimal supervision

  • Ability to actively approach, challenge, persuade, and work with senior and experienced RFP response team members

  • Excellent computer skills especially with Microsoft Office suite

  • Knowledgeable of template and style formatting

  • Ability to manage confidential information

  • Prior program management experience or a technical background

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to cooperate with senior management, functional teams, and customers

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills

  • Ability to work as part of a team and an interest in sharing expertise and experience actively by coaching others

  • Fluent in English; knowledge of other European languages is a plus

  • Willingness to travel

  • Sales, marketing, and business development abilities are a plus

  • Detailed product knowledge and an ability to create content are a plus
