Job Description:

Opportunity for an experienced Senior Software Engineer/ Senior Software Developer to join a fast-paced Program that develops advanced IT solutions and services for a feral government system. The candidate will provide support for moderate to complex technical development and operations in an agile environment. This position’s primary focus is on someone with development experience (JavaScript) and full stack experience (Java, Open source products, Databases and tools customization and integration) to work within our software development team and to guide other dev team members.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Identify potential scaling issues and help define how to monitor and fix them

  • Deliver continuous improvement of recipes, scripts and templates for reproducible deployments

  • Monitor and maintain multiple public-facing web applications

  • Manage development repositories, build automation and application deployment activities

  • Works with Infrastructure, Architecture, and Development teams to assure quality project delivery and ongoing support

  • Maintains technical documentation for support and disaster recovery needs

  • Document system administrative and maintenance procedures

  • Develop new user-facing features, translating graphical designed into functioning web pages.

  • Build reusable code and libraries across the entire stack.

  • Interface and develop various RESTful API services.

  • Follow best practices for user interface design such as SPA concepts, asynchronous request handling and partial page updates.

  • Collaborate with product owners, stakeholders, DevOps engineers and team members on design and implementation.

  • Ensure Section 508 compliance, security and quality goals are met or exceed for the product.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, related field or the equivalent and 10 years related experience or a MS and 8 years of experience or the equivalent

  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience and ability to develop a user interface using front-end technologies including Angular, Node.js Vue.js (preferred), WebPack, Jasmine (preferred), and JavaScript dependency management tools.

  • Minimum of five years’ experience and in-depth understanding of a micro-services based architecture in Cloud Environment

  • Five years’ experience and ability to develop restful APIs using Node.js, Java or Python.

  • Some knowledge of NIST 800-63 guidelines and good understanding of security fundamentals, and authentication with OAuth, SAML etc.

  • Minimum of two years’ experience working in an Agile team/group, TDD, developing code for deployment in a DevSecOps environment.

  • Minimum of two years’ experience working with code versioning tools including Git, GitHub (preferred).

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Desired Education and Experience

  • US Citizen with DHS Public Trust suitability clearance/EOD

  • Experience with any DHS agencies or entities

  • 5+ years’ experience with one or more programming or scripting languages such as bash, Java, Python, Ruby ,JavaScript and experience JSON, PostgreSQL and other open source databases and tools in Cloud environment

  • Experience with modern web technologies such as HTML5, CSS, XML, REST, JavaScript, Angular, ReactJS, Vue.js and Node.

  • Ability to manage time effectively, to work under pressure, to meet schedules and deadlines, to multi-task, to plan, organize and prioritize work assignments and pay close attention to detail

  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills
