UnitedHealth Group OptumServe: Six Sigma Specialist - Multiple Locations or Telecommute in Eden Prairie, Minnesota

This position works under the direction of the Performance Improvement Manager . The individual in this role is a subject matter expert who uses Lean and Six Sigma methodologies in project management, scope definition, risk identification, and performance improvement. As part of the performance improvement team, the individual will support OptumServe by facilitating, coordinating, and completing assigned performance improvement projects.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Define and improve performance and results for assigned projects

  • Investigate non-standard requests and problems

  • Utilize appropriate statistical methodologies to drive optimal results, and effectively presents the analysis with supporting data/documentation to meet the audiences understanding

  • Solve complex problems and develop innovative solutions

  • Demonstrate understanding of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies, selecting the best methodology for the situation, and applies knowledge of the relevant tools applicable to each methodology

  • Collaborate with applicable stakeholders throughout the project to ensure alignment of project goals to business goals

  • Prepare and presents detailed reports and presentations to leadership

  • Ensure project documentation is complete, accurate, and projects are completed on time and within scope

  • Facilitate projects, events, and discussions in a virtual or live environment

  • Serve as a change agent within the organization to drive adoption of new/revised business solutions

  • Utilize appropriate metrics to demonstrate the value/benefits/costs of the project/event

Required Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent experience

  • Six Sigma Black Belt certification

  • 4+ years’ experience leading multiple performance improvement projects with demonstrated success

  • 4+ years experience tracking, planning projects, working with large data sets and making data-driven analytical decisions

  • Moderate to advanced MS Project, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint and SharePoint skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • LEAN certification

  • Experience with Tableau

  • Experience leading project intakes

  • Experience working in health care industry

  • Ability to balance multiple priorities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and concisely, and facilitate meetings

  • Ability to investigate, analyze, synthesize, and formulate conclusions for multiple sources of complex data

  • Ability to work in a fast paced dynamic environment; adaptable and flexible

  • Excellent time management, organizational, and prioritization skills
