This unique department comprised of small specialty groups of highly skilled experts that support patient care throughout the hospital. Nursing Support Services is home of the float pool, where staff are scheduled and work in a variety of hospital departments. The Nursing Support Services department values professionalism, teamwork, and accountability.
The patient care associate assists patients with delegated tasks of direct and indirect patient care, which support nursing practice under the direct supervision of a registered nurse. The patient care associate carries out designated activities that are within those functions limited by law to unlicensed nursing personnel. This includes assisting patients with activities of daily living, providing basic nursing care to patients and assisting in the maintenance of a safe and clean environment. Assists RN with procedures and treatments that require competence in advanced technical and manual skills.
Qualifications High school graduate or equivalent within one year of hire.
Minimum of six months healthcare related experience preferred.
Ability to read and communicate effectively in English. Flexibility (works flexible hours, which include days, evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends). Basic computer skills. Verbal and written communication. Promotes team building. Self-directed. Able to adapt to unpredictable situations.
License or certification
Certified Nursing Assistant on State of Wisconsin Nurse Aide Registry or will obtain prior to hire (required to be in “non-expired” status upon hire; recommended to regularly renew certification).
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification for the Healthcare Provider or CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer or will obtain prior to hire.

Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum pay rate is $14.94 per hour.

Schedule Part Time
Hours / Pay period 40 hours every two week pay period
Schedule details Rotating 8 and 12 hour shifts.
Weekend schedule Every other weekend, 3 holidays/year.
