The Associate Director Comparative Effectiveness will work as part of an advanced analytic team with a focus on evaluating the value of drugs based upon comparative effectiveness research to develop new formulary approaches. The candidate will evaluate and adapt external 3rd party research (e.g., NICE, ICER) and work with the team to measure the total cost of care impact of various drugs and clinical programs. The successful candidate will bring expertise in comparative effectiveness/health outcomes research as applied to drugs and be comfortable working with advanced analytic experts and business leaders.

The overall focus of this team is developing insights and analytic outputs that drive Health Care Value, defined as improved Healthcare Outcomes at an equivalent or lower Total Cost of Care (TCOC).

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Systematically evaluate 3rd party comparative effectiveness research in order to adapt those insights to formulary decisions

  • Work with an advanced analytic team to design analytic studies that measure the TCOC impact of drugs and consumer decision making relative to various co-pay levels

  • Work as part of a high functioning team with a flat hierarchy to rapidly develop new insights, and iterate upon those insights, to drive business decisions

  • Provide expertise around comparative effectiveness methodologies as input to analytic approaches and business decisions

  • Actively consult with business leaders and clinical experts to ensure appropriate medical and business content is incorporated into analytic approaches

  • Anticipate issues and proactively develop solutions to address them

  • Research, interpret, and analyze diverse and complex data (both internal and 3rd party research)

Required Qualifications:

  • Degree Qualified (BA, BS) in relevant field (healthcare, public health, health economics)

  • Experience in comparative effectiveness/health economics and outcomes research, ideally as applied to the cost effectiveness of drug therapies

  • Ability to review, interpret and evaluate comparative effectiveness research including an understanding of the various research methodologies and statistical techniques

  • Ability to work effectively with advanced analytic teams to develop analytic studies that deliver actionable insights around health economics and outcomes

  • Familiar with the use of relevant research approaches and data sets including clinical

  • Familiar with the use of relevant research approaches and data sets including clinical trials, meta-analyses, claims data, observational studies, real world evidence

  • Interest in applying your expertise to solving the most pressing issues in healthcare

  • Proven ability to break down and clearly define problems

  • Proactive and self-sufficient, with strong organizational, time management and problem-solving skills

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver and own projects that yield real business value

  • Ability to establish credibility and build relationships at all levels

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced healthcare degree (PharmD, PhD, MD)

  • Industry experience in Comparative Effectiveness / Health Economics Outcomes Research

  • Statistical experience

  • Publications or presentations around comparative effectiveness

  • Experience working directly with advanced analytic teams and with healthcare data sets
