TitleMidwest Alarm- Service TechnicianDescriptionJOB SUMMARY: The purpose of this position is to service, install and test low voltage systems including burglar and fire alarms, CCTV, Access Control and Nurse Call systems. Provide excellent customer service to our electrical contractors and to our commercial and industrial clients. In order to qualify for a Service Technician position, a candidate must possess verifiable industry experience and be able to obtain NICET Level 2 certification within one year of employment.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following Other duties may be assigned.Install, service and test low voltage systems.Test and verify that all systems and devices installed (alarm panels, sirens, horns, strobes, etc.) function properly and in accordance to manufacturer's specifications.Use multi meter for particular volts and ohm readings and circuit analysis.May use various hand and power tools such as drills and screwdriver for installation purposes.Ability to use lap top computer to program low voltage systems.Keep company vehicle clean and in good operating order (i.e. handle periodic oil changes, fueling, washing of vehicle, etc.).Explain and demonstrate to the customer how the specific alarm system installed works.Complete proper paperwork and submit to the appropriate department on a daily basis.Communicate with clients, co-workers and Per Mar's Central Monitoring Station.Will be available to be on call as required.Adhere to all company policies and procedures.Regular and consistent attendance of designated working scheduleAll other reasonable duties as assigned by the General, Operations or Service Manager specific to the operation of daily business functions.Position RequirementsQUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must have at least an AA Degree in Electronics or related experience/training or equivalent combination of education and experience.LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:Knowledge of fire and electrical codes to ensure safe and proper service, installation and testing of alarm systems and devices.Must complete NICET Level 1 training within one year.Must be able to obtain an Iowa fire alarm license through the state of Iowa.Completion of Basic Tech Level I training including fire alarm security, CCTV and access control systems.Must have documented industry experience and must meet all Level I competencies.OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Excellent written and verbal communication skills in addition to customer service skills.Must be detail oriented and able to handle multiple tasks.Capable of handling stressful situations without decreasing productivity.Must be at least 18 years of age, professional in appearance, pass backgr
