Trinity Health MFH Outpatient Infusion Supervisor in Darby, Pennsylvania
Infusion Unit Supervisor is responsible for ongoing review, assessment and education of clinical nursing and patient care. This includes all aspects of patient care for the OP facility and assists in care coordination for the IP Oncology unit. Works closely with physicians, cancer program leaders and other members of the interdisciplinary team to promote a coordinated approach to care. Assists the administrative team and physician leaders with program development, quality initiatives, clinical research and community outreach activities for the MFH Cancer Programs. Provides for oncology nursing management for the Infusion Unit in accordance with professional standards. Responsible for overseeing the operations to include: coordination of patient scheduling and care, CQI, policy and procedure development and enforcement, staffing, coordinating , maintaining supplies, patient assessment and education, chemotherapy preparation and administration, and participation in all cancer center activities. Performs competency evaluations of nurses. Provides staff development activities and oncology nurse education, cancer committee participation, community outreach activities, community programs and Oncology nursing leadership for COC accreditation standards. Maintains competence in area of Oncology. Fosters/facilitates growth and development of staff. Provides consultation in area of expertise to management, staff and other disciplines, agencies, etc. Acts as a resource and role model. Coordinates the education, training, and orientation of staff and students. Develops, implements and evaluates education programs for staff and students, and educational resources for patients and families. Participates in clinical research as appropriate. Assists and participates in oncology nursing education and certification for the in – patient oncology unit by provides education and support. Assists with oncology research, clinical trials, cancer screenings, and provides support for the cancer registrar and research nurses. Assists Director in CQI data and reporting, stats, policy and procedure, cancer committee, resource role in meeting COC accreditation standards. Responsible for: patient assessment, teaching, monitoring, and the admixture and delivery of cancer therapeutic and supportive therapies to the patient with a diagnosis of cancer or hematological abnormality. Other responsibilities include oversight and assessment of care for all patients requiring infusion services for patient scheduling, care coordination, charge identification, supply management, and participation in cancer center programs. Provides nursing assistance to the radiation therapy department when requested.
Effectively provides for management in the Infusion Unit in accordance with professional standards.
Oversees the operations of the Infusion Unit for coordination of patient scheduling and care.
Establishes and collects and reports data for ongoing CQI and quality assurance.
Attends committees as assigned, as they pertain to the cancer center.
Reviews and updates annually all policy and procedures for Infusion unit and Cancer Program.
Interacts with Nurse Navigator, nursing leadership, and nursing education from MSH to review and maintain policies and procedures based on evidence based practice guidelines

Assists with these activities as needed by Nurse Navigator or Administrative Director of Program.
Assists Director in meeting COC accreditation standards for clinical care.
Reviews changes to criteria for accreditation. Attends in-services and conferences as required
Maintains ongoing clinical competence in area of Oncology.
Attends continuing education programs, national conferences, in-services as applicable.
