This is a senior level coding position.
Presentation of evening education workshops for providers
Development of provider education curriculum
Medical chart auditing and QA review
Travel to provider offices for education
Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
Current AHIMA or AAPC coding credential with 5+ years of coding experience
2+ years of managing a team of medical coders, (train and evaluate staff, drive projects to completion, and work with other Optum organizations to ensure quality in coding)
5+ years ICD-9 Coding experience, preferably in an inpatient or physician's office setting
Project management experience
Risk adjustment experience
Strong critical thinking skills
Strong presentation skills
Strong training skills
Ability to communicate with different skill levels and medical staff positions
Intermediate (or higher) proficiency using MS Office (Word, Excel & Outlook)
