Columbus Forge Blades, a recognized leader in producing airfoils for the aerospace propulsion market, has an opening for a dynamic Manufacturing Engineer, Forging Process.

  • Develop and implement plans that are in line with the business strategy to improve our world-class technology portfolio

  • Provide operational engineering support to develop technologies and processes which support the growth curve and cost reduction targets

  • Craft manufacturing innovations to improve cost, delivery, and quality of aerospace air foils

  • Develop plans and processes to align with our growth strategy to support the next generation of aerospace propulsion systems

  • Perform research and development activities to support other functional areas regarding technical and or material/metallurgical issues related to quality, operations, and processes

  • Assist with problem solving during manufacturing related investigations

  • Support operational excellence using statistical analysis for process control and certification

  • Lead the ACE journey to continuously improve the quality and exceed customer’s expectations

  • Demonstrate commitment to the EH&S program by complying with all policies and procedures

  • This position is part of Pratt & Whitney talent growth strategy to maintain our competitive advantage in the air foil forging industry

  • Develop air foil forging tools using Finite Element Analysis techniques to improve first run yield.

  • Create capital plans and specify equipment to meet the growing needs of the forging manufacturing unit

  • Periodic travel required (<10%)

  • Final Grade/Level of position will depend on experience and qualifications

Education:

  • BS Degree Required

  • Advanced Degree Preferred

Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience with a Bachelor's degree OR 2+ years of experience with a Master’s Degree in Manufacturing Engineering or related engineering field.

  • US Citizenship required due to government contracts

Referred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of thermal processing of air foil super alloys, robotics, and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) a plus

  • Metallurgy of titanium and nickel based super alloys

  • 3D printing

  • Ability to work with CAD tools, and create engineering blue prints using ASME Y14.5

  • Validated project management experience

  • Possess good people and interpersonal skills

  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles, experience with Kaizen events or experience with a continuous improvement program (ACE, 6S, etc.)

  • BS Degree in Engineering, Materials, Manufacturing, or technically related field preferred
