Job ID 12400 Location Case Main Campus Full/Part Time Full-Time Regular/Temporary Regular Job Description POSITION OBJECTIVE The Admission Counselor at the School of Medicine serves a pivotal role in the admissions process, with a focus on applicant recruitment and admissions operations. This role also serves as a primary contact for prospective medical students, providing comprehensive guidance on the medical school's admissions procedures and programs and providing outreach to potential applicants and to premedical advisors. The Admissions Counselor is responsible for reviewing applications, conducting evaluative interviews, strategically planning recruitment activities based on data analysis, and cultivating relationships with medical school applicants and pre health advisors. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Assist in application evaluation for candidates who apply to the school of medicine four-year medical degree program, from a pool of more than 8,500 applicants. Analyze and interpret college and graduate school transcripts, interpret standardized test scores, assess academic achievement (must be able to assess strength of similar courses offered at different colleges/universities), evaluate quality of essays and letters of recommendation. Synthesize this information to predict the likelihood of success in medical school. Assist with interview decisions based on all components of the application including academic course of study, contributions to community through extracurricular activities, test scores, life experiences and overall preparedness for medical school. (20%) Help with interview day logistics including interview scheduling and conducting Zoom interview days. Assume a leadership role on interview days and deliver tailored informational sessions to prospective students and host question and answer sessions. Effective communication and active listening are essential in providing clear and concise engagement with applicants (30%) Conduct interviews with prospective students to assess their suitability for the university medical degree program. Evaluate candidates by delving into all available components of the application including academic background, extracurricular involvement, life experiences and fit for our specific curriculum. Create succinct and informative evaluation reports for application assessment. (15%) Take a leadership role in advising both prospective applicants and those who were not initially successful in their efforts to apply to medical school and who show an interest in the university school of medicine. Assume a key role in overseeing the entire recruitment process, including coordinating attendance at regional and national recruiting fairs, and managing school visits, whether conducted in-person or virtually, as assigned. Represent the school of medicine and its educational programs while demonstrating the ability to adapt presentations to individual needs. (15%) Responsible for the strategic management of digital marketing, innovative recruitment initiatives, and online presence. This includes overseeing our social media platforms and leading the Student Social Media Ambassador Program. Maintain and update content on the admissions website. Support and contribute to the production of the admissions office's podcast. (5%) Collaboratively assist in coordinating 65 interview days for over 1000 applicants in conjunction with the department assistant. This includes oversight of interviews for other specialized programs including the Edwards Scholars Program, Oral Maxillofacial Surgery Program, Pre-Professional Scholars Program ,Health Education professional interviewers and medical student interviews within the University Program.
