GENERAL FUNCTION:

The Director, Strategic Initiatives partners With executive management in the strategic planning process and on the execution of their enterprise strategic initiatives. Ensuring the strategic vision is converted into a tactical plan and executed. Provides insight and decision support to the executive team and cross-functional business partners through evaluation of technical and operational complexity, including organizational impact. This position will work with executive management, LOB business leaders and CS to develop long-term vision and strategies to respond to changing market. Transition strategy from concepts into execution ensuring integration across all operation including project management, management information, vendor management, process re-engineering, business process outsourcing, and quality initiatives.

Responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures as defined. Accountable for always doing the right thing for customers and colleagues, and ensures that actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience. While operating within the Bank's risk appetite, achieves results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide consultation to executive leadership on strategic initiatives.

  • Manage the top strategic initiatives in terms of complexity, cost, and benefit.

  • Lead group discussion to develop innovative solutions and recommendations.

  • Transition strategy from concepts into execution, ensuring integration across all operation including Project Management, Management Information, Vendor Management, Process Re-Engineering, Business Process Outsourcing, and Quality Initiatives.

  • Enlist ongoing and active support from Senior Management and continuously communicate progress.

  • Create common expectations about the role of the PMO

  • Work with executive sponsor and key stakeholders to define projects, including scope, goals and objectives, teams, deliverables, milestones and activities, resource plan, budget, timing and risks

  • Ensure projects deliver business outcomes within budget and time parameters.

  • Manage and drive overall initiative level reporting, communication, issue management, and cross work stream risk identification and resolution.

  • Anticipate and execute plans to address implementation obstacles and potential areas of risk.

  • Provide meaningful guidance and views on solutions and possible alternatives as needed.

  • Provide direction, guidance, and leadership to EPMO Staff and LOB/Functional PMOs.

  • Establish, foster, and maintain working relationships with LOB and support groups throughout the organization.

  • Drive for consistency of process, high quality of delivery, and rapid execution across the enterprise.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervise a team consisting of enterprise program managers, project managers, and contract staff. Responsible for providing employees timely, candid and constructive performance feedback, developing employees to their fullest potential and providing challenging opportunities that enhance employee career growth, developing the appropriate talent pool to ensure adequate bench strength and succession planning, and recognizing and rewarding employees for accomplishments.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field required. Advanced degree preferred.

  • 10 years of program and project management experience driving large-scale, complex projects to completion.

  • 10 years of related business experience with experience interfacing with executive stakeholders.

  • 10 years of management experience.

  • Demonstrates ability to direct initiatives with successful results.

  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrates strategic, operational risk, and change management skills.

  • Demonstrates very strong business acumen and the ability to build consensus with all business partners.

  • Able to work within a matrixed organization and develop a strong, effective network of colleagues.

  • Able to lead and motivate others and thrive in an extremely fast-paced environment.

  • Strong facilitation, conflict resolution, negotiation, and influencing skills.

  • Comfortable with presenting to and facilitating discussion with senior business leaders.

  • Excellent business judgment and discretion when addressing sensitive or confidential matters.

  • Able to turn complex opportunities and problems into well-defined projects.

  • Able to manage multiple projects, work under pressure, and adapt to rapidly changing priorities in the work environment.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.
