Areas of quality oversight include manufacturing quality, supplier quality, product quality, document change control, and training. Quality activities include finished product inspections, customer complaints, product investigations, supplier qualifications and issues, adverse events, Corrective and Prevention Action (CAPA) plans, product withdrawal/recall, and document and training management. Product families include cannabis flower, cannabis oil, manufactured infused products (lotion, capsules, vape pens/cartridges, transdermal patches), and food products (chocolate, gummies, cookies). This position will be responsible for ensuring products are being produced in a manner that meets all specifications and brand consistency. You will also lead efforts to identify potential quality risks and working with operations personnel to develop improvement opportunities. The ideal candidate must demonstrate strong leadership, managing teams and driving performance, be a strong communicator, have a breadth of quality experience, and ability to work within a highly regulated industry.nCORE JOB DUTIESnResponsible for management of all corporate QA Directors and Managers.nEstablish quality initiatives, priorities and timelines.nServe as escalation point for corporate quality issues with regards to:nFinished product sampling and inspectionnEquipment and product line clearancesnProduct complaints and investigationsnCAPAnNonconformances and deviationsnProduct withdrawals, recallsnInternal and external auditsnDocument change controlnEmployee trainingnReview and approve critical customer complaints and product investigations, helping to assess risk, identify root cause, CAPA plans, and implementing solutions with business partners.nWork with quality subject matter experts to generate ideas for projects and process improvements.nTrack and trend quality metrics and KPIs.nDiscusses issues and concerns directly with operations management and senior leadership.nCollaborates with operational functions to troubleshoot manufacturing and production defects, CAPA, and customer complaints. Provides advice with process improvements to eliminate errors and reduce risk.nDiscuss quality-related issues with state regulators, as needed.nMonitors compliance to established Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and SQF (Safe Quality Food) guidance.nProvides recommendations for product discontinuation, quarantine, destruction, rework, withdrawal/recall to operations and quality management.nConducts all duties in compliance with safety rules, applicable SOPs, and other applicable guidelines.n5-10% travel to facilities and states as the need arises.nREQUIRED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND SKILLSnBachelors Degree (prefer science, biology, chemistry), 10+ years’ experience in a quality rolenPrior experience in highly regulated industry: healthcare, medical devices, pharmaceutical, consumer packaged goods (food), cannabis, supplement.
