Trinity Health Patient Care Assistant - Behavioral Health Afternoons in Chelsea, Michigan
The Nurse Assistant / Patient Care Assistant provides quality patient care by considering the age specific, development and cultural needs through competent clinical practice. Demonstrates unit/area competencies. Delivers basic age appropriate nursing care effectively and efficiently.
We are looking to hire two Part Time Patient Care Assistants to work on our Behavioral Health Unit working 3 - 4 eight hour shifts from 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm including every other weekend and holiday rotation.
There will be additional training provided for this unit that will include Recipient Rights, CPI and other unit specific training. There may be a possibility of floating to other units to work with Behavioral Health patients such as in the Emergency Room or on the Med/Surg Unit.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Provides quality patient care by considering the age specific, development and cultural needs through competent clinical practice. Demonstrates unit/area competencies.
Identifies and assists in resolution of problems related to safety, sanitation and maintenance of the environment.
Practices effective communication in all interactions (patient, visitor, co-worker, etc.)
Promotes a positive work environment by demonstrating teamwork.
Delivers basic age appropriate nursing care effectively and efficiently.
Assists with positioning, ambulating and transporting patients safely.
Assists patients with dietary needs.
Anticipates and provides comfort measures for patients.
Answers call lights and responds to patient requests promptly.
Assists licensed nurses with complicated treatments and procedures.
Documents patient care or unit related information according to hospital standards.
Actively complies with and supports SJMC Employee Service Standards.
Demonstrates responsibility and accountability for own professional behavior.
Maintains confidentiality consistent with hospital and regulatory requirements.
Operates and maintains equipment in a safe and appropriate manner and promptly reports any defects/malfunctions.
Required Education, Experience and Certification/Licensure
- Minimum grammar school education
- High school graduation is preferred
- Recent experience desired
