Trinity Health Employee Heath Nurse - Chelsea in Chelsea, Michigan

*Position Summary: *The Employee Health Nurse provides employment health screenings for new employees, employee wellness services, and employee health services related to worker's compensation injuries. HR staff and the Employee Health Nurse work together to coordinate these services.

Qualifications: Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing. Must have current unrestricted licensure as an RN in the State of Michigan. Must have 2 years of recent clinical experience.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Maintains good rapport and cooperative relationships. Approaches conflict in a constructive manner. Helps to identify problems, offer solutions, and participates in their resolution.

Maintains the confidentiality of information acquired pertaining to patient, physicians, employees, and visitors to St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea/Saint Joseph Mercy Health System. Discusses patient and hospital information only among appropriate personnel in appropriately private places.

Maintains knowledge to perform the duties of the job. Assumes responsibility for performance of job duties in the safest possible manner, to assure personal safety and that of coworkers, and to report all preventable hazards and unsafe practices immediately to management.

Demonstrates self-directed learning.

Provides quality patient care by considering the age specific, development and cultural needs through competent clinical practice. Demonstrates unit/area competencies.

Identifies and assists in resolution of problems related to safety, sanitation and maintenance of the environment.

Practices effective communication in all interactions (patient, visitor, co-worker, etc.)

Promotes a positive work environment by demonstrating teamwork.

Other Functions and Responsibilities

Conducts surveillance and follow-up of employee exposures to communicable diseases. Plans, implements and conducts annual Flu Vaccine Program. Plans and implements other vaccine programs as directed by APIC, OSHA, CDC and other regulatory agencies, to include Tdap and MMR. Conducts TB screening for all new employees, all other employees, and volunteers according to the Hospital TB control plan. Conducts follow-up skin testing for all employee TB exposures. Responsible for Quantitative Respiratory Fit-Testing and maintenance of records, according to Hospital's Respiratory Protection Plan. Trends employee illnesses/injuries to identify safety and health issues for TH Safety Initiatives. Participates as an active member of the Environment of Care Committee and as an ad hoc member of the Infection Prevention Committee Promotes and manages the Employee Wellness Program. Is an active member on the SJMHS Regional Wellness Committee. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education, Experience and Certification/Licensure

1) MI Department of Community Health: Tuberculin Skin Test (TST) provider certification

Required Skills and Abilities

1) Ability to properly administer IM and SC injections

2) Ability to safely perform venipuncture
