Senior Living Communities Executive Chef / Food & Beverage Director in Charlotte, North Carolina

Job Descriptions:

The Charlotte, opening this summer is now accepting applications for an Executive Chef / Food & Beverage Director. Our ideal Candidate has culinary leadership, direct foodservice & operations management experience in one or more of these settings:

  • Fine Dining

  • Hotel

  • Country Club

  • Upscale Retirement

  • Adult Home Care

Prefer a graduate of a Culinary Arts school and/or has extensive prior experience in similar food preparation positions. In addition, the Executive Chef will be a Certified Dietary Manager or its equivalent and has knowledge of special diets and all applicable local, state and federal regulations. If not already ServSafe certified, it is expected that the Executive Chef become certified within one year from acceptance of this position.

Required Experience:

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be a minimum of eighteen (18) years of age.

  • Must be able to lift up-to twenty-five (25) pounds or more.

  • Capable of standing, maneuvering independently and safety around work area.

  • Capable of standing on a tile floor for an eight-hour shift.

  • Ability to see and hear, or to use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to assure that position requirements can be fully met.

  • Sufficient manual dexterity to operate a fire extinguisher and to manipulate kitchen equipment, including slicer, chopper, processor, knives, etc.

Personal Requirements:

  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.

  • Ability to use simple math concepts.

  • Good communication skills.

  • Ability to get along well with others: to demonstrate a high level of sensitivity and interest in people.

  • Proficient with computers to complete job-related functions.

Education: 2 year culinary degree preferred. High School education required.

Experience: 5 - 7 years prior culinary experience in an upscale CCRC, hotels or restaurant preferred.

Working Conditions: Subject to moderate physical and emotional stress associated with food service. Performance of job tasks will involve exposure to cleaning chemicals, heat and cold.
