Applies technical knowledge to assist clients in the design and development of solutions to complex technical engineering and applications problems, network challenges, or system administration issues. Establishes the basic structure of the system, defines essential core design features and elements that provide the framework. Incorporates engineering strategies for introducing new technology into the customer's infrastructure related to its business processes of collection, analysis, production, and dissemination. Performs cost-benefit analyses to determine whether requirements are best met by manual, software, or hardware functions; making maximum use of commercial off-the-shelf or already developed components. Applies knowledge of enterprise IT or engineering needs to design improved processes, generate valid requirements, and ensures that these are consistent with the customer's enterprise technical architecture. May participate in business development activities.

The Intrepid program provides transport system engineering expertise to the customer to develop new service based capabilities that meet user needs. The successful candidate will need to support the architecture development to manage a services paradigm and define the systems and segments to be acquired by the program office to support these services. The candidate will work with a diverse team of system engineers, subject matter experts, legacy system managers and acquisition support personnel. They will be responsible for finalizing and maintaining the Capability Roadmap, presenting the results to senior customer personnel and developing the new architecture artifacts for future activities.

The position requires daily contact with government program office personnel.


Requires 12 to 15 years with BS or 10 to 13 years with MS/MA or 7 to 9 years with Ph.D.

BS in Engineering

Excellent communication skills

Prior experience using a standard architecture framework (e.g. DoDAF)

Prior experience briefing senior government personnel

Desired skills:

MS Degree in Engineering

Prior experience with requirements or architecture development

Prior experience with the supported government agency

Prior experience with service based paradigms or ITIL certification
