Philips Research Grant Writer in Cambridge, Massachusetts


In this role, you have the opportunity to:

Contribute to the development of grant applications submitted to US Federal and non-Federal sources that fund research and development projects. Your role will primarily be in the pre-award stage, with an emphasis on grant writing. You will have the opportunity to closely engage with researchers at Philips Research, help articulate the core proposition of the grant application, clearly layout the research strategy, incorporate feedback from internal reviews of the grant application and ensure the grant application meets requirements specified in the funding opportunity.

You are responsible for:

  • Making significant contributions to securing external funding, as a key contributor to a small team.

  • You will assist in identifying funding opportunities that match Philips Research capabilities, goals and ambitions.

  • You will assist in upkeep of information management systems that are used to analyze the portfolio of external funded projects.

  • Although your role will primarily be in the pre-award stage of grant applications, you will assist in post-award technical report generation as well.

  • In this role you will also have the opportunity to participate in our Cambridge Innovation Lab external communications about our activities.

  • Leveraging your knowledge of our programs, you will be a pivotal part of maintaining our external vision and image.

You are a part of:

The Philips Research Management Team. The Philips North America Research organization is based at our Innovation Campus in Cambridge Massachusetts. The Philips Research organization includes 1300 scientists collaborating with over 300 universities and clinical partners globally.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • MS/MA or advanced degree in scientific discipline.

  • Extensive experience in science writing, preferably in grant applications in biomedical engineering

  • Minimum of 5+ years of work experience in a pharmaceutical, medical device or biological company in a research setting

  • Must be able to communicate effectively across a diverse global network of businesses

  • Comfortable working closely with a team taking ownership/initiative where needed, and taking/delegating tasks

  • Must be proficient at using Microsoft Office suite of products.
