Veterinary Interim Medical ER Manager - VCA Canada CARE Centre Calgary, Alberta

Providing excellent client experience and exceptional patient care are our highest priorities at the C.A.R.E. Centre . The primary role of the Medical Care Manager is to provide quality patient care by assisting the healthcare team. Working under the direct supervision of the General Manager and Assistant Manager, the MCM is responsible for ensuring patients and their owners are provided with optimum care and efficiency during their time at the C.A.R.E. Centre.

In the role of MCM will provide leadership for the AHT’s and TA’s at the C.A.R.E. Centre, by working directly to support the General Manager and Assistant Manager, as well as the team lead group, in a professional and kind manner while recognizing the responsibilities involved in responding to client and co-worker questions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The following serve as examples and is not all-inclusive:

Assist with administrative duties including ER schedule, ER training, follow-up with the team, coach and connects every 3 months of service Jump into ER service (while on shift) to provide support to staff during busy times, cover for lunches etc. Be point person for ER team staff to go to Be present on the floor, Assist in creating ER Technician Schedule, Maintain good relationships with locums to help subsidize ER schedule, Work closely with TL’s from other departments to solve problems between staff, schedules etc. Participate in yearly performance management for ER AHT’s, Orientation and training for new staff, Recognize limitations in the team and assess what can be done to resolve the situation proactively. Recognize conflict and attempt to resolve it in a timely manner. Submit incident reports regarding when necessary. Liaison between all services through constant communication with the AHT’s, TA’s and doctors. Organize practicum AHT students: orientation, create schedule, provide mentor-ship, assign mentors, do reviews, fill out necessary school forms Assist with equipment acquisition, maintenance, and repair. Aid the Medical Director and Team Leaders with organization of CE events. Oversee management of the controlled drugs logs, surgical logs and radiology logs. Tour medical personnel through facility.
