DeVry Education Group Anatomy Laboratory Demonstrator - Barbados in Bridgetown, Barbados

Ross University School of Medicine, has permanently relocated its Medical Sciences campus to Bridgetown, Barbados in January 2019. We are currently inviting applications for a temporary, two (2) semester post as an Anatomy Laboratory Demonstrator in the Department of Medical Foundations. The academic center will leverage existing facilities in the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Center, which is centrally located in the vibrant capital city.

Education is the primary focus of the faculty. The academic year is divided into three semesters with a new class of students admitted each semester. Lectures and other educational responsibilities continue throughout the year. Research opportunities exist, primarily in the area of medical education.

As a temporary, full-time Anatomy Laboratory Demonstrator you will be responsible for instruction in the Gross Anatomy Facility to 1st semester medical students.

You will also be required to be involved in the preparation and delivery of anatomy practical examinations. In addition, you may be called upon to perform other duties, which may be of benefit to the students of RUSM including proctoring and tutoring as requested by the Vice Chair, Department of Medical Foundations, Assistant Dean Faculty Affairs and Development or Associate Dean, Medical Sciences Campus.

This assignement will work through August 31, 2019, and could possibly be extended longer.

  • Extensive knowledge of medical human gross anatomy.

  • Experience with digital platforms (sectra tables, ultrasound) preferred.

  • Experience with anatomy laboratory instruction at the graduate level.

  • Ability to relate anatomical concepts to clinical scenarios.

  • Excellent communication skills in English.

  • Strong teaching skills and experience or evidence of potential.

  • Desire for self-improvement.

  • Flexibility and ability to work well on a team.

Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills:

  • Masters in Anatomy or equivalent, or discretion of Vice Chair, Department of Medical Foundations.

  • Must be an effective communicator who has a willingness to learn.

  • Must be flexible and be able to adapt easily.
