Medical Writing . Bothell, Washington Description Summary: This position reports to the Manager, Library Operations. The Library Specialist provides centralized reference management and related software support, troubleshooting, and training for the company. The Library Specialist researches, acquires, indexes, and updates literature for a central, curated company reference database, and manages a database of hundreds of individual user accounts for external resources. The Library Specialist assists with user training, and provides key support to Medical Writing, Medical Affairs and Regulatory Affairs for regulatory documents, Standard Response Documents, and the manuscript/conference publications process. Responsibilities: Promptly respond to requests for articles and bibliographic references needed by the Regulatory, Medical Writing, Medical Information, and Medical Communication groups: Verify and research references by searching biomedical literature databases Acquire and archive copyright-compliant journal articles Add bibliographic references to the EndNote reference database(s) Index references with internal codes and controlled keywords maintained by Manager, Library Operations Regularly update pre-publication records and acquire final publications Ensure regular database backups and provide parallel copies for users from other parts of the organization Perform continuous maintenance and updating of Article and Literature Repositories Maintain reference database and repository of company-authored publications: With Manager, continuously monitor multiple database alerts for company-authored publications and company pipeline and topical alerts Alert stakeholders to new disclosures Acquire the above pre-publication and final publications and index references Support collection and annotation of articles for the 'SGEN Publication of the Year' award Upload to internal Publication Planning site all final company-authored journal publications and abstracts Train and assist employees in the use of reference management software; troubleshoot when needed Provide company employees with document delivery and online database accounts proactively and on request Build and maintain a 'master users database' for tracking and managing all accounts for the company's named-user Library-licensed online databases and tools Continuously monitor and maintain inbox and promptly answer or reassign reference, technical, and troubleshooting requests With Manager, provide outreach to the organization and provide introductions to Library & Information Services resources As a member of the Library's web team, help maintain, update and market the Library & Information Services' internal and external resource platform web sites Help set up and tag future product literature or department libraries of bibliographic references Assist Manager and Associate Director with additional tasks as needed Qualifications: One year relevant experience in biopharma setting Demonstrated experience in the use of PubMed and Embase EndNote or similar software Microsoft Word, Excel, and SharePoint Biomedical terminology/controlled vocabularies/corporate taxonomies Indexing best practices
