The BCH Simulator Program (SIMPeds) provides essential and life-like rehearsal at the points of greatest impact to optimize outcomes for clinicians, staff, patients, and caregivers. We aim to seamlessly embed Simulation to support an error-free and fully prepared hospital. The Program offers a unique approach to preparedness that combines engineering, technology, and entertainment arts to advance medical simulation. www.simpeds.org.

This Research & Evaluation SIMPeds Coordinator will be responsible for:

  • Providing project coordination, analytic, and methodological support to medical staff and principal investigators to develop and evaluate simulation-based interventions.

  • Facilitating and coordinating multiple simulation-based quality improvement projects, research studies and trials.

  • Advising medical staff, management and investigators on tools, methods and criteria for evaluating simulation impact on care delivery processes and outcomes. Facilitating collaborate discussions and decision making around developing metrics and planning evaluations.

  • Organizing, analyzing and interpreting data. Preparing and presenting recommendations to improve simulations.

  • Designing processes and maintaining databases to support reporting and requests for analysis.

  • Collaborating directly with principle investigators and scientific staff on the development,writing, and maintenance of grants, IRB applications, study protocols, and manuscripts.

  • Developing data management and quality assurance procedures and monitoring their implementation at site visits and/or periodic review of data in collaboration with clinical partners.

  • Managing, mentoring, and training research staff.

  • Providing positive and effective customer service and contributing to teamwork within and between the Simulator Programs and various BCH departments, divisions, programs and other organizations.

  • Ensuring research work associated with the Simulator Program is performed in conformance with established hospital, program, federal, and state policies and procedures.

In order to qualify you must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree with course work in statistical methods and 3 years of related experience required.

  • Master’s degree in Health Science, Public Health, Epidemiology or closely related field and 1 year experience preferred.

  • Experience working on, and/or leading, research or quality improvement in an academic medical settings is preferred. Other comparable experience will be considered.

  • Experience developing, documenting and implementing data management and quality assurance best practice activities.

  • Knowledge of clinical research best practices as well as human subject protections regulations.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with one or more multidisciplinary research teams and medical professionals to ensure quality of research practices.

  • Analytical skills to resolve complex problems requiring the use of scientific, mathematical, or technical principles and in‑depth, experienced‑based knowledge.

  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
