Joslin Diabetes Center Project Manager (Clinical Research) in Boston, Massachusetts

The Project Manager (Vascular Cell Biology) will coordinate studies of those with type 1 and type 2 diabetes to identify and validate factors which have protected some individuals from complications related to diabetes, both on a cross-sectional and longitudinal basis. This individual will recruit patients, conduct study visits, handle biological specimens, prepare study communications and participate in preparation of research for public dissemination.

  • Coordinates all aspects of active studies associated with the Medalist Program (50-Year Medalist Study, Organ Donation Study, Cognitive Function Studies, Exercise Intervention, Champions, XCT).

    - Schedule patients - Process reimbursements - Advertise study - Manage over 900 patients
  • Optimized recruitment strategies and record keeping for the Medalist studies

  • Administers study questionnaires and collects patient data

  • Administers cognitive testing, Michigan neuropathy screening instrument and Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy check

  • Carries 24-hour on-call pager for post-mortem organ donation study

  • Processes and stores biological specimens

  • Assists in cleaning and preparing study data for analyses

  • May participate in the training of clinical research staff and assist in monitoring of their performance. Also, manage summer students and temporary office staff.

  • Edits grants and funding applications

  • Makes amendments to protocols and submit proper documentation to IRB

  • Assists in planning Medalist Celebrations every other year

  • Conducts independent research to contribute to abstract, grant and manuscript submission

  • Orders all supplies needed for study visits

  • Monitor Facebook group and other social media

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Minimum 2 years clinical research experience

  • Microsoft Office

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Highly organized and efficient

  • Independent worker who is highly motivated

  • Ability to work in fast paced environment

  • Attention to detail, critical thinking, timeliness
