Department Description:The BIDMC’s Center for Healthcare Delivery Science is uniquely positioned at the center of a growing healthcare network known for its commitment to quality of care, patient safety, and value. The Center will build on this commitment to develop the field of healthcare delivery science on a local, regional, and national level. Using the methods of scientific inquiry, the Center will support the development, study, and spread of healthcare delivery innovations at the level of the medical center, the Beth Israel Deaconess network, the state, and the United States. The Center is committed to training and supporting a new generation of healthcare delivery science researchers, thereby multiplying the influence of the Center and the BIDMC in transforming healthcare. Our vision is to build and study healthcare system innovations throughout the BIDMC, its affiliated hospitals, and the larger system and to translate that learning to generalizable knowledge that contributes to changing the standard of how healthcare is delivered across the country.
Job Location:Boston, MA
Job Summary:Responsible for reviewing electronic and scanned medical records of patients for data abstraction and entry of data elements into databases for clinical research. Will complete validation of data entry and follow clinical research protocols. Reviews data obtained by electronic queries of hospital databases and ensures accuracy. Works closely with other clinical research staff and statisticians.
Extracts data on protocol patients from electronic and paper hospital records, outpatient charts and private physician office records in order to complete data collection required by specific protocols. Enters data into computerized system.
Validates data entry and comparison of data obtained electronically and from medical record review.
Assists investigator with correspondence with IRB.
High School diploma or GED required.
0-1 years related work experience required.
Experience with computer systems required, including web based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access.
- Understanding of medical terminology and/or experience in medical record review
