The Compute as a Service (CaaS) Architect requires over ten years’ experience in architectural design with five years in architecting Cisco Unified Compute Systems (UCS) in particular. The individual must be adept in creating architectural diagrams and demonstrating UCS features. They should be able to engage in design reviews and provide recommendations incorporating technical, security considerations and document them. The individual should have a good understanding of concepts like routing, load balancing, redundancy, disaster recovery, VPN, firewalls and UCS Profiles. They also should have knowledge in core infrastructure components such as DNS, DHCP, LDAP and virtualization platforms such as Linux KVM.
Your Role and Responsibilities
The Compute as a Service Architect will develop and maintain design plans for Cisco UCS CaaS implementations. They will work with engagement teams to determine requirements for new engagements as well as current customers. They should have excellent presentation skills with a high degree of comfort speaking with internal and external executives, IT management and technical teams, therefore they should have excellent written, presentation and verbal communication skills. They will work with the delivery teams to reduce or eliminate technical issues. Initiate and participate in projects to evaluate technologies and methods for implementing these plans. This position should have a board level understanding of various operating system, cloud platforms.
Required Professional and Technical Expertise
10 years’ experience in architectural design.
5 years’ experience in architecting compute solutions using Cisco UCS.
Excellent understanding of networking concepts such as routing, load balancing, VPN, firewalls, and UCS Profiles.
Knowledge of SAN/storage technologies and how they integrate within UCS.
Excellent presentation skills.
Excellent problem solving, decision-making and continuous improvement skills and mindset.
Ability to translate disparate business strategies into comprehensive, pragmatic technology strategies and execution plans (roadmaps) to satisfy business strategy.
Ability to design and deliver solutions that factor in system performance, usability, quality, cross-system interdependencies
Experience modeling as-is and to-be architectures based on business requirements.
Ability to initiate technical architecture discussions to determine the most-appropriate scalable model.
Must be a self-starter.
Preferred Professional and Technical Expertise
Experience with VMware, OpenShift Platform, Kubernetes, and Linux containers.
Experience designing and implementing an enterprise-wide virtual infrastructure using ESXi is a plus.
Experience with VMware tools (e.g., vRA/vRO Site Recovery Manager) a plus.
Cloud based training /certification.
Experience explaining difficult concepts to decision makers to help shape technology strategy
Champion the appropriate use of technology and provide leadership in balancing technical elegance with functional requirements and practical benefits, as we implement and integrate technologies.
Provide coordination across technical teams to encourage application of standards and adherence to standards-based methodologies.
Keep current with industry technologies and trends; understand the appropriateness for the application and timing of those technologies.
