What Quality Engineering contributes to Cardinal Health

Quality Engineering is responsible for product and service quality planning, evaluation and control. Works cross-functionally in the development and implementation of prevention based methodologies used in design, manufacturer, test, sustainability and correction of products and services.

  • Demonstrates understanding of quality philosophies, principles, systems, methods, tools, and standards.
  • Demonstrates understanding of the audit process including types of audits, planning, preparation, execution, reporting results and follow-up.
  • Develops and implements quality programs, including tracking, analyzing, reporting and problem solving.
  • Plans, controls, and assures product and process quality in accordance with quality principles, which include planning processes, design control, material control, acceptance sampling and measurement systems.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of reliability, maintainability, and risk management, including key terms and definitions, modeling, systems design, assessment tools and reporting.
  • Applies problem solving and quality improvement tools and techniques, including, preventative and corrective actions and how to overcome barriers to quality improvements.
  • Acquires and analyzes data using appropriate standard quantitative methods to facilitate process analysis and improvements.

Accountabilities :

  • This position is primarily responsible for identifying opportunities for continuous improvement, formulating corrective and preventive actions, and working to implement those actions in order to improve quality levels and regulatory compliance.
  • Supervisory responsibilities may entail the supervision of Quality Assurance Technicians. Responsible for assisting QA Manager in designing, building, and managing the facility Quality System to achieve compliance with the following regulations:.
  • Performs and documents customer complaint root cause investigations, root cause investigations, CAPA and continuous improvement implementations
  • Writes protocols and performs validations of new/improved materials and processes.
  • Generating and maintaining Quality System documentation, Ensures regulatory compliance in areas of responsibility, Presents quality data to Management.
  • Supports Production personnel by resolving process and material related quality problems in support of the various manufacturing departments.
  • Supports plant cost reduction and process improvement projects through the use of various Quality tools such as FMEA, process capability, Gage R&R, pareto analysis, etc.
  • Serves as primary backup with signature authority for the QA Manager.
  • Responsible for allocating QA resources to ensure coverage for plant.
  • In the absence of QA manager, has full decision making authority and should update/ contact Director of QA for critical quality decisions
  • Serves as back-up contact for QA manager for corporate QA, R&D and regulatory affairs
  • Performs regular internal audits of the Quality System and suppliers
  • Supports EH&S on Waste Management, Environmental, and DOT requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelors in Science or related field, preferred
  • 5+ years experience in related field, preferred
  • Working knowledge of ISO standards (ISO 13485 / ISO 14971), strongly preferred
  • Understanding of Lean/Six Sigma methodologies, Leading Kaizen events and manufacturing process methodologies, strongly preferred
