Student Affairs Advisor II - 19000256 Description: The Student Affairs Advisor position works collaboratively with university constituents to implement a variety of programmatic initiatives designed to support the successful transition of new students to the Georgia State University community. The scope of responsibility will include these specific duties but is not limited to the following, Coordinating Panther Welcome, including, but not limited to chairing the Panther Welcome Committee and marketing sub-committee for the two year campuses. Coordinating the Ask Me Booth and handling a variety of logistics to program planning implementation. Coordinating numerous components of the new student orientation budget in close consultation with the Associate Director for new Student Orientation including, but not limited to, student personnel wages and related programmatic initiatives. Creating and maintaining an ongoing assessment plan to measure student learning outcomes as well as to ensure the effectiveness and relevance of programmatic efforts. Completing other duties as assigned in the Office of the Dean of Students and the Division of Student Affairs. Selecting, training, supervising, and evaluating paraprofessional staff of approximately 15-20 undergraduate students (orientation leaders) who assist with the delivery and implementation of new student orientation. Supervising a graduate assistant, undergraduate student orientation leaders and student interns. Working collaboratively with faculty, staff and students to research, develop and implement a variety of programs and services designed to support the successful transition of new undergraduate students into the University community including, but not limited to, summer/fall/spring orientation programs for new freshman and transfer students, and welcome programs including Panther Welcome. Coordinating the day-to-day operations of new student orientation programs including, but not limited to, the handling of all logistical concerns and program planning aspects of a highly complex and multifaceted university orientation program that consists of multiple conference formats (e.g. Express and Extended) geared for various audiences (e.g. freshman students, transfer students, and parent/families) with diverse, detailed conference schedules. Coordinate numerous programmatic planning processes. Serve as a resource person for students and the greater campus community on issues relating to new student orientation programs and serving as a representative for new student orientation (for the 2-year campuses-Perimeter College) to other Dean of Students units, Student Affairs departments and Enrollment Management areas.
