Position Overview:

Responsible for managing quality technicians and the quality laboratory operations. Oversees the

testing of products and ingredients to ensure they meet specifications. Ensures that necessary adjustments are made to product batches and other processes when out of normal operating

conditions are experienced. Performs data audits to ensure accuracy of data and processes. The Quality Assurance Supervisor leads, directs and monitors sanitation and hygiene of processing and packaging equipment. Engages plant quality assurance and operations personnel to ensure successful program adoption and sustainability of GMP protocols.

Function Specific Activities:

Function Related Activities / Key responsibilities:

  • Give direction to and supervise others by offering approaches to be used and following up to ensure timely and quality execution against expectations.

  • Organize workflow and task schedules to maximize laboratory efficiency (e.g., prioritize sample analysis, assign tasks, preventative maintenance).

  • Purchase laboratory supplies to maintain proper level of inventory. This includes discussing needs with QA Analysts, screening vendors, placing orders, etc.

  • Develop or validate laboratory test methods or equipment (sampling, monitoring, analytical procedures) in order to ensure reliability and accuracy of analytical results. This may include performing capability studies.

  • Perform data audit in order to ensure accuracy of data and analytical processes. This may include database queries, statistical process control or correlation study.

  • Conduct inspection of the laboratory or laboratory procedures to ensure conformance to internal or external certification requirements and correct or eliminate process-related non-conformance items.

  • Act as scientific, regulatory, technical or quality expert and consultant by responding to targeted questions from the field or other departments/business units and providing support to branches, bottlers and customers. This includes acting as a resource for general information and acting as a consultant for other technical personnel in the Company.

  • Develop implementation strategies, implement, evaluate and/or certify effective implementation of Coca-Cola quality standards.

  • Interpret data from routine and non-routine analyses in order to validate that ingredients/materials meet specifications and approve for shipment to Company plants.

  • Direction of all sanitation associates in a safe and quality manner including managing chemical usage and process improvement

  • Training and development of Operations team in cleaning practices (COP, CIP, SIP, SOP)

  • Master Sanitation Schedule development and review

  • Manage Pest Control Program;

  • Lead validation and verification work for CIP and Allergens

  • Food Safety Team member

  • Focus on removing costs, continuous improvement, removing inefficiencies, and complexity for the supply chain while driving quality;

  • Ability to drive Corrective action teams, identify trends, train and have sustainable practices instituted to eliminate root cause

  • Manage drain cleaning policies and procedures

  • Color Coding policies

Skills Required:

  • Needs to walk, bend the body, lean, and/or be seated for long periods of time.

  • Performs light physical effort with little exposure to adverse conditions.

  • Works with a personal computer and programs to prepare documents or reports and present these to others as necessary.

  • Applies communication skills to perform work and coordinate with others.

  • Utilizes advance skills of reading, writing, speaking, analytical capacity and high level of professional judgment to resolve problems affecting work area.

  • When entering the plant production areas, incumbent may be exposed to fumes, gas, dust, strong odors, and/or high temperatures. In addition can be requested to use a dust mask and/or any other personal safety equipment.

  • Work in low acid and/or ESL filler environment preferred

  • Strong organization, planning and decision making abilities.

  • Experience working in an ISO environment.

  • Excellent communication skills; both oral and written.

  • Ability to problem solve with groups of people.

  • Labor relations experience is an asset.

  • Knowledge of water treatment systems.

  • Previous supervisory experience in a Manufacturing environment is required

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in food science or related field of study. Strong preference for microbiology and chemistry knowledge/training.

  • Preferred HACCP training

  • Preferred any GFSI schema training (ISO, SQF, and BRC etc.)

  • Prioritizes as needed to maximize productivity, efficiency and effectiveness.
