Job Summary

To serve as a liaison between the financial aid advisor for an assigned caseload of student aid recipients in the office of Student Financial Aid and other campus departments as well as parents and other non-institutions. To present a high degree of initiative and judgment in responding to individual needs of students and applying Student Financial Aid policy and federal regulations to case work.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Review information submitted by financial aid applicants concerning Satisfactory Academic Progress, Special Conditions, and Dependency changes, and decides whether or not to approve these requests. When necessary, revise the need analysis documents in the case of special conditions or dependency changes and recalculate the student’s eligibility for aid, or make a financial aid award in the case of a Satisfactory Academic Progress Approval. Make financial aid awards, review simulated awards for accuracy, and adjust existing awards per student requests and eligibility. Assist students at the front counter, over the phone, appointments, or by email. Review, reports, and performs other duties assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of experience in student financial aid, student personnel, or related area in a post-secondary institution or the equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Must demonstrate a strong customer focus with excellent writing and oral skills. Ability to communicate complex information simply, both verbally and in writing. Good analytical and mathematical skill required along with excellent organization, prioritization and interpersonal skills. Must be able to collaborate well with team members and perform work independently. Must be timely, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and possess patience, tact, and an ability to function effectively with a broad constituency. Ability to exercise good judgment, work under pressure and deadlines, and carry out multiple tasks required. Must demonstrate a high level of discretion while handling confidential and sensitive information. Computer literate and skilled in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PeopleSoft, Image Now, and NemoQ. Must be comfortable navigating complex computer databases and demonstrate an ability to learn and adapt quickly to change, especially with technology, financial aid process and/or workflow. Be proficient across multiple social media platforms. Occasional pre-scheduled evening and weekend work necessary. Experience with PeopleSoft preferred.
