About the Opportunity This is an open position with FirstEnergy Company, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. The Payroll HR Rep is responsible to perform various activities to support the payroll function of Corporate Human Resources. The Payroll team is responsible for the accurate and timely administration of the company's payroll processes in compliance with all federal and state laws and regulations, as well as providing oversight and development of payroll related company processes and policies. The team is also responsible for ensuring the payroll system configuration reflects the needs of the client community and generate accurate and compliant records for employees. They provide advice and support to HR personnel, as well as assist internal and external customers. This position reports to the Supervisor, Payroll. The ability to work remotely within the United States may be available based on business need. Responsibilities include: Oversee the administration and processing of payroll for active employees and/or pensioners Serve as thought leader on the team as well as mentor and coach team members Understand and provide recommendations around the processing of payroll and related processes Provide oversight and guidance through the end-to-end payroll run process, including identifying errors, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring accurate and timely results Understand payroll taxation within federal, state, and local jurisdictions Work across HR and with other areas of the business, such as IT and Finance, to ensure payroll processes are operating effectively and properly flow into company financial records Consult with HR and internal customers on payroll practices and processes Proactively identify payroll related issues and develop thoughtful solutions Demonstrate high level of knowledge around Oracle HCM payroll system Drive educational and communication efforts throughout the organization related to payroll Engage in discussions around system configuration, with an ability to complete system troubleshooting and testing Maintain positive relationships with other parts of the organization, such as finance and audit Ability to research complex issues and provide resolution to questions from customers Complex payroll reporting and auditing leveraging ADP SmartCompliance Review and resolve errors that occur between Oracle HCM and other systems Provide excellent customer service Qualifications include: Bachelor's degree in Business or related discipline preferred with minimum 4 years of relevant experience required. In lieu of degree, minimum 7 years relevant work experience is required. Relevant work experience includes experience in payroll administration, accounting, or analytical experience. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Proficient in Oracle with the ability to generate reports and analyze large quantities of data Ability to develop creative solutions to solve problems Able to manage and prioritize multiple work assignments while maintaining a strong attention to detail Advanced written and verbal communication skills Ability to handle complicated processes Strong sense of customer service and ability to be proactive with cu
